  • Publication number: 20150247419
Abstract: A turbine blade for a gas turbine engine comprises an airfoil having a pressure side, a suction side, a span direction and a chord-wise direction. The airfoil has an airfoil span on a pressure line being a projection of the stacking line onto the pressure side. The airfoil has a plurality of chords extending between a leading edge and a trailing edge of the airfoil. A generally round dimple is disposed on the pressure side. The dimple is contained in an area extending on the stacking line between 0% and 23% of the airfoil span from the inner end, and in the chord-wise direction between 0% of a first chord and 82% of a second chord from the leading edge. The dimple is configured to initiate fracture of the blade at a predetermined speed of rotation. A method of preventing rupture of a disk of a turbine rotor is also presented.

  • Patent number: 9002887
Abstract: An external traffic advertisement system is provided that generates advertisement sets based on analysis of visits to a web site that were referred by an external source. The advertisement system aggregates the referral information for each referral type. A referral type may be defined by one or more of keyword text derived from the query text of the referrals, landing page type, external source, product identifier, and so on. The advertisement system may, for each referral type, aggregate the total revenue from the visits of that referral type and may generate a count of the number of converting visits for that referral type. The advertisement system then identifies those referral types whose aggregated information satisfies an advertisement criterion and generates an advertisement set for each identified referral type with a keyword derived from keyword text and with a link based on the landing page type of the referral type.

  • Publication number: 20140097562
Abstract: An apparatus and method for vibration suppression using a granular particle chain. The granular particle chain is statically compressed and the end particles of the chain are attached to a payload and vibration source. The properties of the granular particles along with the amount of static compression are chosen to provide desired filtering of vibrations.

  • Patent number: 8647767
Abstract: An energy storage device includes a housing having an interior surface defining a volume and a plurality of solid electrolyte elements disposed in the volume. Each solid electrolyte element has a first surface that defines at least a portion of a first, cathodic chamber, and a second surface that defines a second, anodic chamber. A plurality of individual anode chambers are thus provided, a majority of which are in ionic communication with the cathode chamber through a majority of the solid electrolyte elements and which are also provided with a sodium level control mechanism.

  • Patent number: 8335719
Abstract: A method and system for generating advertisement sets for keywords automatically extracted from data feeds is provided. An advertisement system receives various data feeds. The advertisement system may on a periodic or an ad hoc basis request a feed server to provide the latest feed having feed items. Each feed item may include a title, a description, and a link to an associated web site. To generate an advertisement set, which includes an advertisement, a keyword, and a link to a landing page, the advertisement system extracts a keyword from a feed item, identifies a category for advertising using the extracted keyword, generates an advertisement (or “creative”) for advertising that category, and generates a landing page link associated with the category. The advertisement system then submits the advertisement set to an advertisement placement service for placement along with content that is somehow related to the keyword.

  • Patent number: 8095455
Abstract: An exemplary embodiment comprises: (a) receiving electronic data describing a trading order; (b) selecting one or more first trading algorithms from a plurality of available stored algorithms for execution of the trading order; (c) commencing execution of the trading order via the one or more first trading algorithms; (d) evaluating quality of execution, during the execution, of the trading order via the one or more first trading algorithms; (e) comparing the evaluated quality of execution to a threshold of acceptability based on a prediction of future performance of execution of the trading order by the one or more first trading algorithms; and (f) if the evaluated quality of execution compares unfavorably to the threshold of acceptability, switching the execution of the trading order to one or more second trading algorithms, wherein the processor unit comprises one or more processors.
