  • Publication number: 20120215716
Abstract: According to one embodiment, a method for administering a financial instrument includes storing a balance of an employee retirement plan account created for an employee and owned by an employer of the employee. The employee retirement plan account includes one or more variable investments. The balance of the employee retirement plan account is based, at least in part, on an initial deposit into the employee retirement plan account from a deduction from wages paid by the employer to the employee. The method also includes storing a minimum positive growth rate. The method further includes updating the stored balance of the employee retirement plan account based on market performance of the one or more variable investments. The method further includes calculating a protected value, and, upon occurrence of one or more events, transferring ownership of the employee retirement plan account from the employer to the employee.

  • Patent number: 8074411
Abstract: A fabric wall panel includes a number of frame members for attachment to a wall to form a frame. Each frame member has a stationary jaw for attachment to the wall and a movable jaw pivotally attached to the stationary jaw by a flexible and stretchable hinge for rotation between an open position and a close position. Each frame member has an opening lock that locks the movable jaw in the open position to facilitate the insertion of fabric between the movable jaw and the stationary jaw. Each frame member also has one or more closing locks that connect the movable jaw to the stationary jaw to thereby hold the movable jaw in the closed position.

  • Publication number: 20100306002
Abstract: A computer system is provided for calculating an environmental impact for a separately accountable business unit. The system accesses accounts data indicative of internal costs for the separately accountable business unit and supplier costs comprising costs paid to suppliers for goods or services used in the economic activities of the separately accountable business unit. The internal costs and supplier costs of the accounts data are processed to determine the environmental impact for the separately accountable business unit, wherein the environmental impact comprises the impact on the environment as a consequence of the economic activities of the separately accountable business unit.

  • Patent number: 7797183
Abstract: A method and system for calculating an environmental score are described and generally related to calculating a score for a separately accountable business unit, where the score is indicative of external costs for the business unit. A computer system for calculating a score for a separately accountable business unit, the score being indicative of a level of unaccounted for external environmental cost of economic activities of the separately accountable business unit, the system includes accessing means for accessing accounts data indicative of recognized costs for the separately accountable business unit, accounts processing means for processing the accounts data by adding external environmental costs to the recognized costs and for calculating the score for the separately accountable business unit using the processed accounts data.

  • Patent number: 7705743
Abstract: A low power self-organizing network is made up of a plurality of wireless communication nodes communicating wirelessly with each other. The nodes each have a sensor providing a respective sensor data value indicative of a physical parameter in the environment of that node. The wireless network discontinues communication with any nodes in which the sensor data value is outside a range of network sensor data values. The network is preferably a group of vehicles moving together, especially a train in which each node is associated with a respective wheel of a railroad car. The nodes are low-power devices that communicate using wireless communications according to a Zigbee protocol. The nodes each have an additional sensor sensing a physical parameter the respective wheel thereof and determines from said electrical signal a degree of degradation of a bearing of the wheel, and transmits data of the degree of degradation to the main node.

  • Patent number: 7682180
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a dielectric housing having at least one contact cavity extending along a longitudinal axis between a mating end and an opposite contact loading end. A primary terminal lock extends from an interior wall of the housing and is configured to engage a terminal contact to retain the terminal contact in the at least one contact cavity. A secondary locking member is integrally formed with the housing. The secondary locking member has a flexible hinge member proximate the contact loading end that pivotably connects the secondary locking member to the housing. The secondary locking member includes an engagement end that is received in the housing in a direction transverse to the axis of the at least one contact cavity to provide a visible indication of a seating condition of the terminal contact.

  • Publication number: 20090124936
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reliably positioning a 3-segment limb, such as a leg or arm for imaging and medical analysis, which can accommodate for the patient's “natural alignment”. The apparatus positions the limb in such a way that the position of the proximal segment is controlled while an known external torque is applied at a known rate to the distal segment. The location of each of the limb's three segments is recorded using either external or internal measurement techniques, and the relative motions between the proximal and intermediate segments are used in the orthopedic evaluation of the proximal joint. Furthermore, the relative motions between the intermediate and distal segments are used in the orthopedic evaluation of the distal joint. By applying a known torque at a known rate, clinicians will be provided with valuable information related to joint range of motion, stability, laxity, and compliance.
