  • Publication number: 20050107802
Abstract: An instrument for measuring the medullary canal of a long bone in order to determine the proper size for a stem centralizer is provided. The instrument includes an elongated central portion defining opposed first and second ends and a contact portion. The contact portion extends from the first end or the second end of the elongated central portion. The contact portion has a contact area for contact with the medullary canal and defines a relief area for providing clearance between the instrument and the medullary canal.

  • Publication number: 20050041366
Abstract: Flat electrolytic capacitors, particularly, for use in implantable medical devices (IMDs), and the methods of fabrication of same are disclosed. The capacitors are formed with an electrode stack assembly comprising a plurality of stacked capacitor layers each comprising an anode sub-assembly of at least one anode layer, a cathode layer and separator layers wherein the anode and cathode layers have differing dimensions that avoid electrical short circuits between peripheral edges of adjacent anode and cathode layers but maximize anode electrode surface area.

  • Publication number: 20050021389
Abstract: A method and system for calculating an environmental score are described and generally related to calculating a score for a separately accountable business unit, where the score is indicative of external costs for the business unit. A computer system for calculating a score for a separately accountable business unit, the score being indicative of a level of unaccounted for external environmental cost of economic activities of the separately accountable business unit, the system includes accessing means for accessing accounts data indicative of recognized costs for the separately accountable business unit, accounts processing means for processing the accounts data by adding external environmental costs to the recognized costs and for calculating the score for the separately accountable business unit using the processed accounts data.

  • Patent number: 6433752
Abstract: An apparatus and method for microwave imaging and sounding with large bandwidth radiometer reflector antennas in a compact form. The apparatus comprises a main reflector for reflecting a beam, a polarizer for polarizing the reflected beam into a first polarized beam and a second polarized beam, a first Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) reflecting a first selected frequency of the first polarized beam, a second FSS reflecting a second selected frequency of the second polarized beam, a first feed receiving the first selected frequency and a second feed receiving the second selected frequency. The method comprises reflecting a beam, polarizing the reflected beam into a first polarized beam and a second polarized beam, reflecting a first selected frequency of the first polarized beam, reflecting a second selected frequency of the second polarized beam, receiving the first selected frequency and receiving the second selected frequency.

  • Patent number: 6371784
Abstract: A contact to electrically connect at least one pin of a pin grid array to a printed circuit board is described. The contact comprises a receiving portion having a pair of contact arms, with each contact arm having a curved portion and a straight portion. The contact arms are positioned so that the curved portions form a curved receiving area while the straight portions are substantially parallel to each other to form a contact area. The contact also includes a tail portion having a solder ball receiving portion. The contact further includes a center portion connecting the pin receiving portion to the tail portion.

  • Patent number: 5312350
Abstract: The present invention relates to a vein spotter which consists of a flexible band which has a buckle attached to one end and a hook and pile Velcro type of fastener mounted on a first surface. A plurality of protrusion members are mounted on the second surface of the band. The buckle and the hook and pile fastener allow the flexible band to be formed into a loop encircling a limb with the protrusion members pushing into skin, displacing tissue into spaces formed between the projecting members and causing superficial veins to distend and become visible.
