  • Publication number: 20110163249
Abstract: A fluid flow monitor, typically for water, includes the combination of a fluid conduit including a magnet displaceable within the conduit when fluid flows therethrough, an electric circuit having a power supply, a magnetic sensor switch positioned in the electric circuit located adjacent to the conduit and positioned at a predetermined distance from the magnet when the magnet is not displaced and a timer connected to the electric circuit. When the magnet is displaced the predetermined distance, the magnetic sensor switch closes the electric circuit activating the timer and when the magnet is not displaced to the predetermined distance, the magnetic sensor switch opens the electric circuit deactivating the timer.

  • Patent number: 7974040
Abstract: A pass-through mechanism that couples a first linear tape library string to a second linear tape library string is maintained. A first robotic assembly associated with the first linear tape library string places a tape from the first linear tape library string into the pass-through mechanism. The pass-through mechanism moves the tape to a position where the tape can be removed by a second robotic assembly associated with the second linear tape library string. The second robotic assembly removes the tape from the pass-through mechanism and places the tape into the second linear tape library string.

  • Publication number: 20110094396
Abstract: An apparatus for handling compressible materials is disclosed. The apparatus includes compressing means adapted to compress a first charge of compressible material into a first compressed charge in a compression area, a holding area which is substantially the same size as the first compressed charge, and push means adapted to push the first compressed charge from the compression area into the holding area. The compression means is also adapted to compress a second charge of compressible material in the compression area to form a second compressed charge. The push means is also adapted to push the second compressed charge from the compression area into the holding area, such that it will eject the first compressed charge from the holding area into a bag configured to receive the first compressed charge. A related method and attachment for handling compressible materials are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20100127150
Abstract: The object of this invention is to alter speed and handling characteristics of an outboard motor boat. This Improved Outboard Motor Mount achieves this with the ability to adjust the distance between the outboard motor and the stern of the boat. Consequently, this movement uses the weight of the outboard motor as leverage to adjust the centre of gravity of the vessel to suit water conditions. Setting the outboard motor close to the stern of the boat will make the bow of the boat more difficult to lift, thus improving its handling performance in rough water. Setting the outboard away from the stern of the boat will make the bow of the boat easy to lift, improving boat speed. This Improved Outboard Motor Mount allows the consumer to optimize their outboard motor boats performance in a variety of water conditions.

  • Publication number: 20100070312
Abstract: A remotely-accessible computer system allows a purchase to establish an account and then purchase admission to live events or venues. The system provides the purchaser with a pass containing data identifying the account established for the purchaser which account contains information about purchased admissions. The pass can be used to gain access multiple events. The purchaser presents the pass at the entrance to the event and a reader reads the identification data and forwards it to the system. The system checks that the purchaser has purchased entry to the particular event and provides a signal to the event indicating whether admission to the event should be allowed or refused.

  • Publication number: 20090080118
Abstract: A Lorentz magnetoresistive sensor having integrated signal amplification. The sensor is constructed upon a substrate such as a semiconductor material, and an amplification circuit such as transistor is constructed directly into the substrate on which the magnetoresistive device is constructed. This integrated signal amplification greatly enhances sensor performance by eliminating a great deal of signal noise that would otherwise be added to the read signal.

  • Publication number: 20090073615
Abstract: A Lorentz Magnetoresistive sensor having an extremely small lead width and lead spacing is disclosed. The sensor can be constructed by a novel fabrication method that allows the leads to be deposited in such a manner that lead width and spacing between the leads is determined by the as deposited thicknesses of the lead layers and electrically insulating spacer layers between the leads rather than by photolithography. Because the lead thicknesses and lead spacings are not defined photolithograhically, the lead thickness and lead spacing are not limited by photolithographic resolution limits.

  • Publication number: 20080273495
Abstract: A process for operation of a data link transmitting data packets between a base station and one or more mobile stations within transmission phases. A start signal indicates the start of each transmission phase that is managed by the base station. For preparation of a handover procedure the mobile station switches into a monitoring phase, wherein the radio traffic is listened to and another base station suitable for the data packet transmission is sought. The mobile station performs data packet transmission in every mth transmission phase, “m” designating a natural number greater than “1”, and after data packet transmission has been effected, the mobile station is omitted from the data packet transmission for at least one subsequent transmission phase.

  • Publication number: 20080089190
Abstract: An automated data storage library, employing storage shelves and data storage drives arranged to “X” and “Y” directions on both sides of an “X” axis, has a plurality of robot accessors configured to move in the “X” direction along one or more “X” rail(s) in separate paths. The robot accessors each have gripper apparatus movable in the “Y” direction and configured to access the storage shelves and the data storage drive(s) in the “Z” direction. The gripper apparatus is configured to pivot about an axis of the robot accessor away from the “Z” direction to provide clearance of the gripper apparatus in the “Z” direction with respect to another robot accessor such that the at least two robot accessors may pass each other in the “X” direction. The gripper may pivot between the “Z” direction and substantially the “Y” direction, or between the “Z” direction and substantially the “X” direction.
