Abstract: A document management method and system for representing entities as documents. The entities include tasks, persons, devices such as phones, printers, cameras, computational processes, and workflow applications such as trip approval processes and hiring processes. Various data sources are used. A data source generally has an associated property and content information related to the entity. A bit provider is configured to identify the data source having the associated property, retrieve the content information, and provide the retrieved content information as at least a portion of the document. Application interfaces are configured to provide the document to various applications.

  • Patent number: 6877178
Abstract: A pressure pad has two sets of cells with a sensor pad positioned under the pad. During inflation, part of the flow goes to the sensor pad to exhaust and the rest fills the cells. Any change in patient position/weight causing a change in airflow in tube will alter the differential pressure measured at a pressure transducer. Based on this feedback a microprocessor directly controls the power level to the pump, thus adjusting the airflow to the cells to prevent bottoming or to rung at a minimum pressure. The pressure pad is segmented into a heel section, upper leg section, torso section, and a head section. The heel, head, and upper leg sections are maintained at a lower pressure, and the torso section at a higher pressure. A control module to control the flow in the segments is provided inside the pressure pad. The pressure pad can be an alternating or static pad.

  • Publication number: 20050054081
Abstract: An apparatus and method for analysing temperature-dependent molecular configurations such as folding comprises a multi-channel flow-through chip (12) along which molecules to be analysed pass. A temperature gradient is maintained along the length of the chip. As molecules pass along the channels they fold or unfold, in response to the changing temperature. These changing molecular configurations are investigated by simultaneously measuring the extent to which the molecules absorb UV light, and the extent to which they fluoresce. The absorption and fluorescence information is supplied to a computer system (26) for real-time analysis.

  • Patent number: 6820931
Abstract: An energy absorber for absorbing energy of a vehicle or component of a vehicle or occupant of the vehicle in a crash situation so as to allow relatively gradual deceleration of the vehicle, component or occupant, the energy absorber including a first part, a second part and an elongate deformable member secured to the first part and extending through a deforming arrangement carried by the second part, whereby said elongate deformable member normally acts as a tie or strut between said first part and said second part but wherein the arrangement is such that, when the force acting between said first part and second part in a predetermined direction exceeds a predetermined amount, said elongate deformable member is thereby forced progressively through said deforming arrangement as the distance between said first part and said second part changes and the deformable member is thereby forced to undergo plastic deformation, whereby energy is absorbed, and wherein said deforming arrangement is such as to effect such

  • Patent number: 6745175
Abstract: An improved method and system for high speed logging and trending of data. Logging of data may include: receiving data; and storing the data, and an index to the data, in a shared memory location coupled to a database. Trending of data may include: retrieving requested data from the shared memory location using the index of the requested data, and displaying the retrieved data. User configurable frequencies may be provided for various actions on the data. The data may be measurement data, including a stream of data comprising a plurality of entries. The logging and trending may be: (1) performed substantially concurrently; (2) implemented using shared memory templates. The database may reside on a first computer system, and the logging and trending may be performed on the first computer system or on a second computer system coupled to the first computer system via a network.

  • Publication number: 20040059435
Abstract: A document generating method and system is provided for autonomous selection and communication of information drawn from a varying data stream, keyed by a set of predetermined subjects corresponding to a parameter profile. An original set of predetermined subjects is selected comprised of contents which are updated over time to comprise the varying data stream. A user selects a subset of the original set to form a parameter profile. Incidental to the user generating a first document, a second document is generated comprised of data segments extracted from the subset. The first and second documents are associated and contemporaneously communicated to the user. Preferably, the subject invention is applicable to printed documents and the associating comprises identifying a white space within the first document and disposing the second document within that white space.

  • Patent number: 6672538
Abstract: A transmission system for a hybrid aircraft is driven by a plurality of driveshafts and drives a translational propulsion system. Each driveshaft is mounted to a pinion gear which mesh with an upper and lower counter-rotating gear. The upper and lower counter-rotating gears drive a respective upper and lower rotor shaft which powers a counter-rotating rotor system. A first angle is defined between a first and a second driveshaft while a second angle is defined between the second and a third driveshaft. The angle between the driveshafts are a whole number multiple of the formula: &thgr;=(CP/R)*(180/&pgr;). By so angularly locating the driveshafts, proper meshing of the pinion gears and the upper and lower counter-rotating gears is assured and tolerances are less stringent as the support structure is effective designed around optimal location of the driveshafts for gear meshing rather than vice versa.
