    Abstract: A reload assembly includes a shell housing, a staple cartridge, a staple actuator, and a knife carrier. In embodiments, the knife carrier or the shell housing defines a locking groove and the other of the knife carrier and the shell housing supports a locking member. In other embodiments, the knife carrier or the staple actuator defines a locking groove and the other of the knife carrier and the staple actuator supports a locking member. The locking member is received within and movable through the locking groove to prevent readvancement of the knife carrier after the reload assembly is fired.

The cam ring is rotatable between an engaged position in which the knife carrier engages the cam ring for concomitant axial displacement with the knife band and a disengaged position in which the knife carrier is disengaged from the cam ring.

The snap-ring is movable with the knife carrier to a position proximally of the one-way collar when the one-way collar is in its advanced position to obstruct movement of the knife carrier back towards its advanced position.

Oscillating the anvil retainer in the first oscillation pattern includes oscillating the anvil retainer in a longitudinal direction between extension and retraction with the motor such that the anvil moves towards and away from the shell assembly. Oscillating the anvil retainer in the second oscillation pattern includes moving the anvil towards and away from the shell assembly.
