    Abstract: This invention describes ways of obtaining nano-particulated adjuvants formed by different synthetic variants of GM3 ganglioside. Depending on the fine structure of the fatty acid in the ceramide of the synthetic GM3, said adjuvants are able to stimulate specifically and in a specialized way the humoral or cellular immune response against accompanying antigens. Particularly, this invention provides immunogenic vaccine compositions that comprise peptides, polypeptides or proteins and the aforementioned nanoparticles, which are formed through the dispersion of hydrophobic proteins of the outer membrane complex (OMC) of Neisseria meningitidis in solutions containing fully synthetic variants of the GM3 ganglioside.

    Abstract: The present invention offers some general specifications for the design, assembly, and adaptation of a rotating cylinder electrochemical cell into an autoclave, of a high temperature and pressure system for corrosion studies that simulate operating conditions in pipelines, as well as the operation and safety of an autoclave to evaluate the electrochemical process of metal surfaces exposed to aggressive aqueous solutions. The electrochemical cell consists of an array of three electrodes that include a rotating cylinder electrode designed to operate hermetically, a reference electrode and an auxiliary electrode. The rotating cylinder electrode is considered to be the working electrode, where the oxidation and electrochemical reduction processes are studied. However, the use of the method described in this work can be extended to other testing environments and materials by taking into account the physical and chemical properties of the fluids and materials to be used in order to avoid any risk for the operator.

    Abstract: A method for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) comprises applying a consecutive series of MRI sequences to a target volume (V) according to experimental settings (TR, ?, ?). A discrete sequence of transient response signals (Sn, Sn+1, Sn+2) is measured and fitted to a fit function (F) that is continuously dependent on a sequence number (n) of the respective MRI sequence (Pn) and corresponding response signal (Sn). A shape of the fit function is determined according to an analytically modelled evolution by the experimental parameters (TR, ?, ?) as well as variable intrinsic parameters (r, ?3, ?, ?) to be fitted. For example, the model is based on an equivalent harmonic oscillator. The intrinsic parameters of the fit function can be related to the intrinsic properties (PD, T1, T2) of the spin systems and used for imaging the target volume (V). Various optimizations of contrast can be achieved by tuning the experimental settings according to the model.
