Abstract: The frame of an ironing press has flexible abutments made of steel against which a support for roller tracks rests in order to assure a stable position for a lever arm of the press when the press is in an open or closed position. The flexibility of the abutments of the frame make it possible to maintain stable positions of the lever arm during the ironing of fabrics of usual thickness or fabrics of greater than usual thickness.

Abstract: A sewing machine presser foot is provided with a detachable sole plate connected to the spaced apart arms of a support member by means of a compressible pin assembly secured to the arms and projecting from the sides thereof. The sole plate is provided with inclined flanges on its upper surface and aligned openings beneath the flanges. When the sole plate is moved upwardly toward the support member the projecting ends of the pin assembly are engaged by the ramps and compressed toward each other to permit the projecting ends to engage in the openings in the sole plate upon release of the compressive force on said ends.

Abstract: A sewing machine adapted to be mounted in a support member, comprising a column mounted on a lower frame member having a free arm portion extending therefrom, said column carrying an upper arm disposed generally parallel to the free arm portion and terminating in a head in which a drive mechanism of a needle carrying bar is provided, said lower frame member being pivotally connected to a casing by means of at least two support members pivoted at one of their ends to the frame member and pivoted at their other ends to the casing, characterized in that said support members connect said lower frame member to said casing in such a manner as to permit displacement of the machine with respect to the casing between a first position in which the lower framework member and the free arm are housed in said casing, with their upper faces being generally at the level of the upper edge of the casing, and a second position in which the free arm is on the elevated position above the casing.

Abstract: A thread-tensioning device of a sewing machine comprises thread-squeezing plates between which the thread passes. A shaft applying pressure to the plates is subjected to the action of a transmission lever which is acted upon by a spring-urged ball which is moved by a control button along an arcuate path from adjacent the pivoting axis of the lever to near an end of the lever. The angle of the lever can be set to enable progressive setting of the thread tension for a constant spring pressure, or with variation of the spring pressure.

Abstract: A bobbin carrier of a sewing machine is suspended in a surrounding plate solely by several radial pins bridging the space between the carrier and the plate and which can be successively temporarily retracted from the space by a rotating cam. A hook turning with the cam takes up thread from a needle and drives it about the bobbin carrier, in synchronization with retraction of the pins, for the formation of a stitch with a thread fed from a bobbin in the carrier.
