  • Publication number: 20090190573
Abstract: Disclosed is a network-based device in an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) that provides IMS services to terminating non-IP devices. The method embodiment includes receiving a REGISTER message that initiates registration of a Public User Identity (PUID) at a terminating non-IP device at a network-based device in an IMS, wherein the terminating non-IP device is specified as being at an E.164 routing address, establishing, in a network device that accepts communications regarding where to send sessions destined for a specific PUID and provide information regarding where to send sessions, the E.164 routing address as a final destination of sessions to the PUID based on the registration and an IP address of a network device that includes routing functionality based on telephone numbers as an immediate destination for the session and using this information from the registration to route to the terminating non-IP device after providing IMS services by using the relationship between the PUID, the E.

  • Publication number: 20090100480
Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for advanced distribution of digital media. A list of subscriber addresses to a new release of a digital media is retrieved at a server associated with a producer. An electronic copy of the digital media is sent from the server to a subscriber's address in the list of subscribers. The electronic copy of the digital media is stored in a memory of a device and may be retrieved at a specified date. The memory may have a partitioned portion that is dedicated to new releases of media offered by the producer. A cost associated with the device and/or the digital media is subsidized by the producer, such that only the producer, the subscriber, and/or a service/network provider have access to the partitioned portion of the memory.

  • Publication number: 20090045920
Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for controlling an electronic device. A query is received at a remote control interface. A response to the query is determined. A random response interval of time is determined according/to a collision avoidance mechanism. When the random response interval of time expires, then the response to the query is sent.

  • Publication number: 20090034784
Abstract: Methods, systems, and products are disclosed for indexing a digital scene in digital media. The digital media is stored in memory and a uniform resource locator is assigned to a digital scene within the digital media. The uniform resource locator uniquely identifies a resource from which the digital scene may be retrieved, and the uniform resource locator also uniquely identifies the digital scene from other scenes in the digital media. When a query is received for the uniform resource locator, then the digital scene is retrieved from the memory.

  • Patent number: 7221748
Abstract: A method for utilizing the caller identification information stored in call logs to retrieve address book entries stored in a database, enabling a reply to each call in the call log using the communication medium and contact address of choice. Using this method, a customer can access the call logs for various phone numbers using a computer and can link to additional contact information associated with each entry. This additional contact information is stored in an address book database, either locally or on a network. Caller identification information in the call log can be used to search the address book and retrieve alternate addresses spanning a range of possible reply media, such as cell phones, E-mail, PDA, and telefacsimile.

  • Patent number: 7151763
Abstract: A WAP-enabled device can request text-based and/or voice based content from a WAP Server. The WAP device communicates over a conventional wireless service provider network using a base station connected to a conventional Mobile Switching Center. The wireless service provider network provides a connection between the WAP device and a WAP Gateway. The WAP Gateway operates as a gateway between the wireless service provider network and the TCP/IP-based Internet. WAP data requests are sent from the WAP gateway through the Internet to the WAP Server. Requests for voice-based content can also be delivered to the WAP Server over this path. When a request for voice-based content delivery is received by the WAP Server, the WAP Server responds by sending a TCP/IP instruction to a Voice Portal Node. The Voice Portal Node is operative to establish a voice-based communication session with the WAP device. The WAP Server will transmit voice-based content to the Voice Portal Node for delivery to the WAP device.

  • Patent number: 3959599
Abstract: A digital data switching system is designed for rapid calling of data machines by subscriber polling equipment. In the event, however, that calls cannot be completed due, for example, to busy conditions of called machines or to failure of machines to answer the calls, the polling equipment is precluded from rapidly initiating new calls that overload the common control equipment. A timing circuit delays the initiation of new calls by blocking requests for the services of the common control equipment if completion of the previous call is unsuccessful and the common control equipment is continuously active.
