  • Publication number: 20080243964
Abstract: A method of dynamic allocation of program libraries to an application server is provided. In addition to a static allocation of libraries to the server at initialization time, libraries can be added to or removed from the set available to a server while that server is active. New libraries are created as resource objects specifying a set of locations from which programs can be loaded. Each library is allocated a ranking which the system can use to identify its place in the loader's search order relative to other libraries. New library resources are dynamically installed and added to a list of available libraries, including the system's pre-defined library of locations, in a position in the loader's search order determined in accordance with the allocated ranking.

  • Patent number: 7422078
Abstract: A control circuit for a lawn tractor having an engine and a power take off driven implement. The control circuit includes an inhibit circuit component for preventing operation of a power take off driven implement with the tractor in reverse. Two versions of the inhibit circuit are disclosed, one grounds an engine magneto and a second disables an electric clutch for coupling the power take off to the driven element. The circuit includes first and second override switches and an override circuit component that allows operation of a power take off driven implement while the lawn tractor is in reverse after the first and second override switches are activated in a proper order by a tractor operator.

  • Patent number: 7398432
Abstract: A data processing system employing identify indicators associated with various components of the system. The indicator may be activated whenever a corresponding component requires maintenance, field testing, installation, replacement, and the like. The user may specify global and local conditions under which an activated identify indicator is reset. After the indicator is activated, the system monitors for the satisfaction of one of the conditions. When one of the conditions is satisfied, the system deactivates the indicator automatically. The global conditions apply across logical partitions in a logically partitioned system thereby reducing the occurrence of stale identify indicators on all partitions.

  • Publication number: 20080120618
Abstract: The present invention discloses a solution that automatically decomposes a batch process into multiple units of work without changing code of a preexisting batch application. In the solution, the batch application is first analyzed to identify a set of processing segments or units of work, where each unit of work is of a size that minimizes interference with other data accesses. Once each unit of work is defined, these units can execute one at a time. A syncpoint can be established for each unit before it is executed, which locks the records included in the unit. After the unit of work executes, the record lock can be released and a new syncpoint can be established for the next unit. If an execution problem occurs, execution for the unit of work can be terminated and chances can be restored to the syncpoint.

  • Publication number: 20080047275
Abstract: A method of operating a gas turbine is provided, wherein the gas turbine engine is coupled to an electrical grid operating at a standardized grid frequency value, and the gas turbine includes a combustor coupled in flow communication with a plurality of independent fuel circuits and a compressor. The method includes determining a deviation of a grid frequency from the standardized grid frequency value and adjusting fuel flow from a portion of the plurality of fuel circuits while maintaining a substantially constant air flow from the compressor to facilitate controlling a fuel to compressor discharge pressure ratio such that a combustor state does not lag changes in airflow when the combustor responds to the grid frequency deviation.

  • Patent number: 7274124
Abstract: The present invention discloses a generator (1) able to generate either unidirectional current or bi-directional current. A rotatable disc (7) has a conductive track (9) and a ferromagnetic bridge (8). Brushes (12, 13) switchingly open circuit a coil (16) or connect the coil (16) to a load resistor (R). Movement of the disc (7) results in bridge (8) shunting a core (15) of the coil (16). This generates an emf in the coil (16). If the circuit is closed, current flows in the resistor (R). If the circuit is open, no current flows. The arrangement is such that current only flows when the bridge (8) approaches the magnet (14)—not when the bridge (8) recedes from the magnet (14). Thus, only the magnetic attraction for the bridge (8) by the magnet (14) impedes the movement of the disc (7) as the bridge (8) recedes from the magnet (14) without the disc's movement also being impeded by generation of electric current at that time.

  • Patent number: 7272139
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for improving data transfer in complex computing environments. Internal routing enhancements are defined, which enable traffic of virtual servers to be processed more efficiently, thereby improving overall data transfer rates. Instead of performing routing operations in the Internet Protocol (“IP”) layer of a networking stack, a “mini-routing” table is created programmatically and is used to perform routing at the Data Link Control (“DLC”) layer. This technique avoids bottlenecks in the IP layer and speeds the data transfer process.

  • Patent number: 7192194
Abstract: There is provided an adapter that fits most standardized fiber optic cable connectors to allow quick field installations. The adapter includes a split diameter. The smaller diameter fits within a rear back shell of the connector and receives a fiber stub from the connector. The larger diameter abuts the rear of the rear back shell and receives an optical fiber. The adapter includes a pair of mated resilient members that forms a fiber guide within the adapter. The fiber stub and a bare optical fiber of the optical fiber are optically spliced within the fiber guide formed within the resilient members.

  • Patent number: 7168519
Abstract: A switch mounting assembly that adapts a switch to detect a position of a vehicle control, such as the position of a drive control actuator of a lawn and garden tractor or similar vehicle. The switch mounting assembly includes a switch support member and a lever pivotally connected to the switch support member. The switch support member mounts a switch that includes an actuator that is biased to an extended position and a may be selectively depressed to a retracted position. The lever is pivotable between a first position that allows the actuator to be biased to the extended position and a second position that depresses the actuator to the retracted position.

  • Patent number: 7139940
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer instructions for reporting global errors in a logical partitioned data processing system having a plurality of partitions running different types operating systems. Responsive to detecting a global error, a unique identifier is assigned to the global error. The unique identifier is sent to a service focal point. The unique identifier also is sent to the partitions. Error information from the partitions is reported to the focal point. The partitions send error information to the focal point in association with the unique identifier. The focal point identifies error information sent from the partitions for the global error using the unique identifier.
