  • Publication number: 20210409382
Abstract: Embodiments described herein are directed to intelligently classifying Web trackers in a privacy preserving manner and mitigating the effects of such Web trackers. As users browse the Web and encounter various Web sites, tracker-related metrics are determined. The metrics are obfuscated to protect the privacy of the user. The obfuscated metrics are provided as inputs to a machine learning model, which is configured to output a classification for the Web trackers associated with the Web sites visited by the user. Depending on the classification, the effects of the Web trackers are mitigated by placing restrictions on the Web trackers. The restrictions for a particular Web tracker may be relaxed based on a level of user engagement a user has with respect to the tracker's associated Web site. By doing so, the compatibility risks associated with tracking prevention are mitigated for Web sites that are relatively important to the user.

  • Publication number: 20210357528
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system configured to collect and maintain user data within a first party silo while allowing third party data consumers to use the user data in accordance with explicit input from users. The system provides a user with transparency and control with regard to data use by displaying graphical user interfaces configured to receive input indicating whether the user allows or prevents third party data consumers to use his or her data. The system exposes an API that enables the third party data consumers to submit a data query. The system uses the data query to internally analyze a user data set. User data is included in the user data set in accordance with the input. The system is configured to provide, via the API, a result of the analysis to the third party data consumer that submitted the data query without providing the user data set.

  • Patent number: 10189677
Abstract: An automated elevator control system using facial recognition. The system is capable of recognizing an elevator passenger's face in a field of view of an imaging device in close proximity to the elevator car, capturing the elevator passenger's facial image using video data output from the imaging device, and comparing the captured facial image to pre-registered facial image data in a database storing corresponding authorized floor destination data for each passenger. Upon determining a match between the captured facial image and a stored facial image, the system is capable of sending a signal to the elevator control system to move the elevator car to the elevator passenger's authorized floor destination.

  • Publication number: 20180225749
Abstract: A system for rental of vehicles stores reservation information for a customer reservation of a rental vehicle, including a scheduled pickup time and pickup location for the rental vehicle. The system receives information from the customer's a mobile device, including image information and location information. When the customer arrives at the rental pickup location, the system prompts the customer to use the mobile device to capture and upload an image of the customer's driver's license, a current image of the customer, and location information for confirming that the customer image was captured at the rental pickup location. The system displays the uploaded driver's license image, the uploaded customer image and the stored reservation information to an operator to verify the identity of the customer before the customer is approved to pick up the rental vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20180068062
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein provide methods for identifying new CRISPR loci and effectors, as well as different CRISPR loci combinations found in various organisms. Class-II CRISPR systems contain single-gene effectors that have been engineered for transformative biological discovery and biomedical applications. Discovery of additional single-gene or multi-component CRISPR effectors may enhance existing CRISPR applications, such as precision genome engineering. Comprehensive characterization of CRISPR-loci may identify novel functional roles of CRISPR loci enabling new tools for biomedicine and biological discovery. CRISPR loci have enormous feature complexity, but classification of CRISPR loci has been focused on a small fraction of highly abundant features. Increased genome sequencing has enhanced the sampling of this feature complexity.
