  • Publication number: 20230103450
Abstract: Intelligent hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback can better support link adaption. Thus, in addition to the traditional HARQ feedback, which is to relay acknowledgement (ACK) and negative acknowledgement (NAK) data based on a decoding result, a new state for the HARQ feedback can be represented as “ACK+”. Consequently, ACK+ can be used to indicate to the network that a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) of a current data packet is too conservative, and the user equipment (UE) is capable of supporting a more aggressive MCS.

  • Publication number: 20230086340
Abstract: A closed loop carrier sense multiple access multiuser request to send and clear to send handshaking system is provided to efficiently allocate licensed and unlicensed spectrum for a plurality of mobile devices and across different base stations and mobile network operators. A user equipment device can be connected to a base station device via a first frequency in licensed spectrum, and a second frequency in unlicensed spectrum. The air interface on the first frequency can then be used to coordinate physical and virtual carrier sensing on a second frequency among a plurality of user equipment devices. Moreover, carrier sensing results from a plurality of UEs can be reported a base station device via the first frequency in licensed spectrum. The base station device can then schedule multiple user multiple input, multiple output (MU-MIMO) transmissions to a plurality of UEs on the second frequency in unlicensed spectrum.

  • Patent number: 11588923
Abstract: Compression techniques can reduce the fronthaul throughput in split radio access network (RAN) architectures for next generation designs. Adaptive fixed-point mapping can reduce the throughput requirements between a baseband unit (DU) and a remote radio unit (RU). Thus, a bit or plurality of bits can indicate the type of data being passed over the fronthaul. Consequently, adaptive mapping between precoded downlink data and non-precoded downlink data suited to the type of data passed over the fronthaul can achieve high compression ratios.

  • Patent number: 11576034
Abstract: One subscriber identity module (SIM) can transmit data in active mode while another SIM is in an idle mode. However, paging for the SIM in idle mode can occur based on a discontinuous reception configuration (DRX) cycle of the active SIM. For example, when the DRX of the active SIM indicates that the active SIM is in an idle state, then the SIM that is currently in an idle state can send messages and vice versa. The DRX cycle information can be exchanged between a first core network and a second core network. Each core network can belong to the same or different mobile network operator and can have separate radio access networks (RAN) or share the RAN. The DRX cycle information and/or a time-division multiplexing (TDM) pattern can be exchanged over the air via a system information broadcast message.

  • Patent number: 11576135
Abstract: An integrated access and backhaul network is provided with network nodes that can establish timing synchronization with any other network nodes. In an embodiment, network nodes in a multi-hop integrated access and backhaul network have a hop order of n, wherein n represents a number of hops from a node connected to the core network via a wired connection. In an embodiment, instead of using the network node with a hop order of 0 as the timing synchronization reference for over-the-air synchronization, any network node can use any other network node as a synchronization reference. A relay node can first establish a wireless link to said arbitrary node. Said wireless link is then used to synchronize the relay or IAB node using a Precision Time Protocol (PTP) implementation.

  • Patent number: 11569874
Abstract: Channel state information (CSI) can be transmitted to a network node incrementally to increase network efficiency. The CSI feedback framework can be enhanced by allowing a user equipment (UE) to report multiple sets of CSI feedback, where each set can comprise a rank indicator (RI), a pre-coder matrix indicator (PMI), and a channel quality indicator (CQI). Since a different set may have a different sub-band, the CSI feedback framework can support the sub-band rank, wherein rank data from a wideband and the sub-band can be used by the network.

  • Publication number: 20230026727
Abstract: The disclosed subject matter is directed towards semi-static or dynamic shifting of New Radio demodulation reference signals to avoid collisions with LTE cell specific reference signals (LTE CRS) in a physical downlink shared channel symbol (PDSCH). In dynamic spread spectrum (DSS) deployments, where NR PDSCH mapping type B is used, e.g., to allow for two NR physical downlink control channel symbols, when the NR PDSCH starts on a symbol carrying LTE CRS, the NR DMRS of the NR PDSCH is shifted to the first symbol of the NR PDSCH not carrying LTE CRS. Whether mapping type A or mapping type B, shifting the symbol containing NR DMRS facilitates the use of two DMRS symbols without colliding with LTE CRS.

  • Patent number: 11563465
Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for a codeblock segmentation configuration system. A base station can configure the segmentation rate or segment size, which can control the number of codeblock segments a transport block is segmented into, based on the transmission reliability and predicted interference to a mobile device. An increased number of segments can improve throughput and efficiency when interference is low and signal to noise ratios are high, but can increase latency when interference is high and signal to noise is low. The base station can determine or predict transmission reliability based on the speed of mobile devices, the location and/or distance to the mobile device, as well as the long term signal to noise ratios.

  • Publication number: 20230012517
Abstract: The described technology is generally directed towards operating a user equipment node as a scheduler user equipment (e.g., which can be a local manager of other nodes in a group). The scheduler user equipment receives a scheduling request for the scheduling of the resources for transmission of data by a transmitter user equipment, and based on the traffic type requested, schedules the transmitter user equipment and receiver user equipment(s) with scheduling data / allocated radio resources. The transmitter user equipment can directly transmit to the receiver user equipment(s) on the allocated radio resources, e.g., without further involvement of the scheduler user equipment / local manager. For cellular data, the scheduler user equipment can schedule the transmitter user equipment to transmit to the scheduler user equipment as a receiver node.

  • Patent number: 11558915
Abstract: The same or similar physical signals can be used for both user equipment (UE) and an integrated access backhaul (IAB) node. Different configurations of resources and/or transmission periods of the signals can be used for initial access for access UEs and IAB nodes. In addition, since the UE functionality for IAB nodes is not fully identical with access UEs, the network can identify which UEs performing initial access are normal access UEs or are IAB nodes with UE functionality. Furthermore, the parameters for configuring radio resource management operation at the IAB node gNode B function can consider a half-duplex constraint imposed by the UE function and can also analyze hop order and other topology/route management functionalities.

  • Patent number: 11558822
Abstract: Channel state information reference signal transmission can be used to estimate channel state information. Although resources needed for channel state information reference signals can be small, when multiple bandwidths are deployed within the same orthogonal frequency division multiplexing bandwidth, estimating the channel state information can comprise a channel state information reference signal resource grid for every bandwidth. Therefore, time-frequency resources for channel state information reference signals can be high and occupy a lot of bandwidth, thereby reducing the number of resources for data transmission. Therefore, a non-orthogonal design for channel state information reference signals for a 5G air interface can mitigate bandwidth loss in a 5G network.
