  • Patent number: 9710051
Abstract: A method of power supply unit rotating in an information handling system (IHS) may include a control unit dividing a power loading of an IHS into N sections, where N corresponds to a number of power supply units coupled to the IHS. The control unit may configure a first power supply unit to an active state and configure one or more remaining power supply units to a suspended state during a first time period. The control unit may configure the first power supply unit to the suspended state and configure a second power supply unit to the active state in response to a second time period being reached. The control unit may rotate the active state among the power supply units in response to sequential time periods being reached. In an embodiment the control unit may rotate the active state sequentially between each of the subsequent power supplies.

  • Publication number: 20170201537
Abstract: Systems and methods of the disclosure can implement intrusion radiation protection (IRP) to prevent malicious IP traffic in a secure network. The IRP system can receive an IP packet, determine that a protocol of the IP packet matches a predetermined policy of a plurality of predetermined policies, classify the IP packet based on the predetermined policy and a size of the IP packet, inspect a payload of the IP packet responsive to the classification to determine features of the IP packet, determine that one of the features of the IP packet is improper based on the classification, and flag the IP packet as suspect based on the determination. The IRP system can log and/or drop the flagged IP packet. The IRP system can additionally replace a payload of the IP packet with a second payload, and transmit the IP packet with the second payload to its destination.

  • Publication number: 20170199527
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for avoiding or exploiting air drag on an aerial vehicle are disclosed. In embodiments, the methods and apparatus may be implemented in a controller and used to increase the energy efficiency of an aerial vehicle. In the embodiments, at least one parameter associated with a force on an aerial vehicle is determined. A yaw setting for the aerial vehicle is then determined that exploits or avoids air drag on the aerial vehicle for energy efficiency. The yaw setting may be referenced to a yaw based on directionality in the shape of the aerial vehicle. In other embodiments, a drag associated with a force on an aerial vehicle is determined. It is then determined if there is a selected component in the drag based on a desired maneuver of the aerial vehicle. A yaw setting is then determined based on whether the selected component is in the drag.

  • Patent number: 9706305
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein enable detection and improvement of the quality of the audio signal using a mobile device by determining the loss in the audio signal and enhancing audio by streaming the remainder portion of audio. Embodiments disclosed herein enable an improvement in the sound quality rendered by rendering devices by emitting an test audio signal from the source device, measuring the test audio signal using microphones, detecting variation in the frequency response, loudness and timing characteristics using impulse responses and correcting for them. Embodiments disclosed herein also compensate for the noise in the acoustic space by determining the reverberation and ambient noise levels and their frequency characteristics and changing the digital filters and volumes of the source signal to compensate for the varying noise levels.

  • Publication number: 20170195726
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses are described for source device detection. Source device detection may be performed for a variety of types of connectors such as cables or board/substrate connectors across which a DC voltage or stable presence signal is normally supplied during connections when the power signal of the connector is not present. An alternating power source is coupled to a capacitor of known capacitance via a switch. The capacitor is in series with an effective capacitance of a sink device, a connector, and a source device. When the switch is open, the voltage between the capacitor and the effective capacitor is read to determine if a source device is present and On, and when closed, if the source device is present and Off or in Stand-By, or not present. The methods, systems, and apparatuses described include tunability for the capacitor based on temperature and effective capacitance variations.

  • Publication number: 20170193239
Abstract: Log(s) of IT events are accessed in a distributed system that includes a distributed application. The distributed system includes multiple data objects. The distributed application uses, processes, or otherwise accesses one or more of data objects. The IT events concern the distributed application and concern accesses by the distributed application to the data object(s). The IT events are correlated with a selected set of the data objects. Risks are estimated to the selected set of data objects based on the information technology events. Estimating risks uses at least ranks of compliance rules as these rules apply to the data objects in the system, and vulnerability scores of systems corresponding to the set of data objects and information technology events. Information is output that allows a user to determine the estimated risks for the selected set of data objects. Techniques for determining ranks of compliance rules are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20170193524
Abstract: In response to a posting of a negative review of an information technology item, external environmental context data is collected that comprehends processing environment attributes of an external process that interacts with the item in a reviewed performance of the item. An attribute of the item criticized in the review is correlated with an attribute of the external environmental context data as a function of contemporaneous time of occurrence. Degrees of likelihood as the principal cause of the negative review are determined for the attributes of the information technology item and for the correlated external environmental context data attribute. The negative review is determined to be a false negative review if the degree of likelihood that the correlated attribute of the external environmental context data is the principal cause is higher than the degree of likelihood that the criticized attribute of the information technology item is the principal cause.
