Abstract: A wind turbine blade is described having noise reduction features. The blade has a plurality of projecting serrations provided at the blade trailing edge to reduce the scattering noise produced during operation of the blade, wherein the serrations have a plurality of through-going apertures defined in the serration body. The apertures act to provide a pressure equalisation effect at the serrations between the suction and pressure sides. This pressure equalisation provides for improved noise reduction performance, as well as a reduction in mechanical stresses and strains which may be experienced by the serrations, increasing serration lifetime.

Abstract: A retaining ring includes a generally annular upper portion having a top surface configured to be connected to a base of a carrier head and a lower surface, and a plurality of substantially identical arcuate segments detachably secured to the upper portion to form an annular lower portion. Each of the arcuate segments has an upper surface that abuts the lower surface of the upper portion and a bottom surface for contacting a polishing pad during polishing.

Abstract: A cloud access manager obtains input regarding access control for at least one application deployed on a plurality of virtual machine instances in a cloud computing environment; the virtual machine instances are divided into at least first and second access zones. A cloud access manager registrar located in the cloud computing environment registers internet protocol addresses of external clients as seen from the cloud computing environment; at least some of the addresses are assigned to the clients via network address translation (NAT). Session traversal utility for NAT (STUN) is carried out to determine public internet protocol addresses assigned to the clients via NAT. The cloud access manager controls (i) access of the external clients to the plurality of virtual machine instances; and (ii) access of the plurality of virtual machine instances to each other, based on the registered internet protocol addresses, in accordance with the access zones.

Abstract: Multiple search indexes can be served from a common set of resources. Instead of requiring a processor to be dedicated to serving a single search index, a processor can provide responsive documents for search queries that are based on different ranking algorithms and/or different sets of documents.

Abstract: A radio access network (RAN) may radiate to define a wireless coverage area that is configured to provide wireless coverage to wireless communication devices (WCDs). If the utilization of the wireless coverage area is below a low-utilization threshold, the RAN may begin transmitting noise frames in the wireless coverage area. In doing so, the transmitted signal strength of the wireless coverage area may increase, which in turn may increase the likelihood that the WCDs can acquire and use the wireless coverage area.

Abstract: Customizing a conferencing system based on proximity of a participant. A first participant may be detected as being proximate to a first conferencing system. For example, the first participant may provide user input to check in to the first conferencing system. Alternatively, the conferencing system may automatically detect the first participant (e.g., by automatically detecting a personal device of the first participant). In response to detecting the proximate participant, the first conferencing system may be automatically customized for the participant.

Abstract: A flow battery system includes a flow cell, a reservoir including an aqueous electrolyte, a memory in which command instructions are stored, a model of the flow cell stored within the memory, and a processor configured to execute the command instructions to obtain a current signal and a voltage signal, estimate a state of charge (SOC) of the flow cell using the obtained current signal, compute a model voltage of the flow cell using the obtained current signal, the obtained voltage signal, and the model, compare the model voltage with the obtained voltage signal, calculate a voltage error based upon the comparison of the model voltage with the obtained voltage signal, and correct the estimated SOC based upon the voltage error.

Abstract: Disclosed are cementitious articles with hydrophobic finish. In some embodiments, the article is a waterproof gypsum panel that is surface reinforced with inorganic mineral fibers that face a flexible and hydrophobic cementitious finish possessing beneficial waterproofing properties. The waterproof gypsum panels of the invention are useful in many applications, such as, for example, tilebacker board in wet or dry areas of buildings, exterior weather barrier panel for use as exterior sheathing, and roof cover board having superior water durability and extremely low surface absorption. The flexible and hydrophobic cementitious finish of the invention can include Class C fly ash, film-forming polymer, silane compound (e.g., alkyl alkoxysilane), and otheroptional additives.

Abstract: A water-resistant preformed polystyrene foam product with improved adhesive properties is provided. A water-resistant coating for preformed polystyrene products is also provided. The coating can be formulated as a sprayable composition and is easy to apply. Methods for making the coating formulations and water-resistant preformed polystyrene products are also provided.

Abstract: Systems and methods for clarifying a computer user's intent with regard to one or more query terms of a search query are presented. Often, one or more query terms of a search query are ambiguous and/or unclear. As presented herein, upon identifying a query term in the search query that is unclear, clarification data is obtained and presented to the computer user by way of a clarification user interface. The computer user is able to identify one or more aspects of the computer user's intent, intent clarifications, with regard to the query term through the clarification user interface. Upon instruction by the computer user, the search query, along with the intent clarifications, is submitted to a search engine and the search results obtained from the search engine are presented to the computer user.

Abstract: A system and method for integrating media productions imported from a plurality of content provider systems are described. The system and method may communicate with a plurality of content provider systems to import a set of media productions from each content provider system and may normalize each media production into a normalized media document format. The media productions may be matched to each other based on the normalized media documents. The system and method may also create and store a plurality of canonical objects based on the matches determined for the media productions. For example, if a given media production matches one or more other media productions then all of the matching media productions may be linked together by a canonical object, e.g., so that the canonical object functions as an abstract representation of all of the matching media productions.

Abstract: Disclosed are cementitious product, as well as cementitious slurry, and method of forming the product. To reduce density in the cementitious product, foam is included in the slurry and in the method of forming the product. The slurry includes cementitious particles, water, and air bubbles such as from compressed air. Instead of using detergent chemistry at the gas/water interface of bubbles, the present invention uses a surface modifying agent for the cementitious particles in the slurry. The modified particles act to produce stable foam in the slurry. As an example mode of introduction, the surface modifier can be added (e.g., as solid or solution) directly into a bulk cementitious slurry that forms the product. As another example, the surface modifier can be added in a separate solution with water, air bubbles, and cementitious particles that serve as additive to the main cementitious slurry, where the separate solution is then added to the main cementitious slurry.

A computing system includes multiple registers configured to store remote contexts of functional units. A mapping table maps the remote context to the functional units. An execution unit is configured to execute a remapping tool that intercepts an operation to access a remote context of a first functional unit of the plurality of functional units that is taken offline. The remapping tool determines that the first functional unit is remapped to a second functional unit using the mapping table. The operation is performed to access the remote context that is remapped to the second functional unit. The first functional unit and the second functional unit may be heterogeneous functional units.

Abstract: Some implementations include a method of managing a hosted non-volatile random-access memory (NVRAM) based storage subsystem that includes NVRAM devices.
