  • Patent number: 8838459
Abstract: The present disclosure describes a teleconferencing system that may use a virtual participant processor to translate language content of the teleconference into each participant's spoken language without additional user inputs. The virtual participant processor may connect to the teleconference as do the other participants. The virtual participant processor may intercept all text or audio data that was previously exchanged between the participants may now be intercepted by the virtual participant processor. Upon obtaining a partial or complete language recognition result or making a language preference determination, the virtual participant processor may call a translation engine appropriate for each of the participants. The virtual participant processor may send the resulting translation to a teleconference management processor. The teleconference management processor may deliver the respective translated text or audio data to the appropriate participant.

  • Publication number: 20140253148
Abstract: A capacitance-to-voltage interface circuit is utilized to obtain a voltage corresponding to a detected capacitance differential, which may be associated with the operation of a capacitive sensing cell. The interface circuit includes a capacitive sensing cell, an operational amplifier adapted for selective coupling to the capacitive sensing cell, a feedback capacitor for the operational amplifier, a load capacitor for the operational amplifier, and a switching architecture associated with the capacitive sensing cell, the operational amplifier, the feedback capacitor, and the load capacitor. During use, the switching architecture reconfigures the capacitance-to-voltage interface circuit for operation in a plurality of different phases. The different operational phases enable the single operational amplifier to be used for both capacitance-to-voltage conversion and voltage amplification.

  • Publication number: 20140254408
Abstract: MAC layer frame aggregation and block acknowledgement are used in some WLAN technologies to improve efficiency of a communications channel by reducing PHY layer overhead. A frame aggregation window size defines how many MAC protocol data units (MPDUs) are included in an aggregated MPDU (AMPDU) frame. The frame aggregation window for a subsequent AMPDU frame is typically dependent upon the characteristics of the block acknowledgement—such as the number of non-acknowledged (NAK) MPDUs or the position of a hole in the previous AMPDU frame. A small frame aggregation window size may impact throughput especially at higher transmission rates. In this disclosure a transmission rate may be determined based, at least in part, on a projected frame aggregation window size resulting from a block acknowledgement. The frame aggregation feedback (e.g. block acknowledgement) may be used by a rate control module to determine a transmission rate that optimizes frame aggregation efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20140258653
Abstract: Data stored within symmetric and asymmetric memory components of main memory is integrated by identifying a first data as having access characteristics suitable for storing in an asymmetric memory component. The first data is included among a collection of data to be written to the asymmetric memory component. An amount of data is identified within the collection of data to be written to the asymmetric memory component. The amount of data is compared within the collection of data to a volume threshold to determine whether a block write to the asymmetric memory component is justified by the amount of data. If justified, the collection of data is loaded to the asymmetric memory component.

  • Publication number: 20140258648
Abstract: Overwriting part of compressed data without decompressing on-disk compressed data is includes by receiving a write request for a block of data in a compression group from a client, wherein the compression group comprises a group of data blocks that is compressed, wherein the block of data is uncompressed. The storage server partially overwrites the compression group, wherein the compression group remains compressed while the partial overwriting is performed. The storage server determines whether the partially overwritten compression group including the uncompressed block of data should be compressed. The storage server defers compression of the partially overwritten compression group if the partially overwritten compression group should not be compressed. The storage server compresses the partially overwritten compression group if the partially overwritten compression group should be compressed.

  • Publication number: 20140258603
Abstract: Main memory is managed by receiving a command from an application to read data associated with a virtual address that is mapped to the main memory. A memory controller determines that the virtual address is mapped to one of the symmetric memory components of the main memory, and accesses memory use characteristics indicating how the data associated with the virtual address has been accessed, The memory controller determines that the data associated with the virtual address has access characteristics suited to an asymmetric memory component of the main memory and loads the data associated with the virtual address to the asymmetric memory component of the main memory. After the loading and using the memory management unit, a command is received from the application to read the data associated with the virtual address, and the data associated with the virtual address is retrieved from the asymmetric memory component.
