  • Publication number: 20160323672
Abstract: A method is disclosed for determining a relative orientation of speakers that receive audio signals from a portable audio source device. In an embodiment, a microphone coupled with the portable audio source device receives a first sound from a first speaker and a second sound from a second speaker. An orientation detector determines a volume of at least one of the first and second sounds and the portable audio source device detects a movement of the portable audio source device. The orientation detector detects a variation in the determined volume and determines a relative orientation of the first and second speakers based, at least in part, on the detected movement and the detected variation in the determined volume.

  • Publication number: 20160323108
Abstract: Mechanisms for accessing a resource based on interpretation of a secure optical code are provided. The mechanisms capture, by an image capture device, an image of the secure optical code. The secure optical code is a pattern of shapes having at least one of different positions or visual characteristics. A reference to a resource and a signature of the reference are extracted from the secure optical code. Public decryption information for decrypting the signature of the reference is obtained and used to decrypt the signature of the reference. The integrity of the reference to the resource is verified based on the decrypted signature. The resource is accessed in response to the integrity of the reference being verified based on the decrypted signature. A warning message is output in response to the integrity of the reference not being verified based on the decrypted signature.

  • Publication number: 20160323107
Abstract: Mechanisms for generating a secure optical code having a reference to a resource encoded therein are provided. The mechanisms receive the reference to the resource for which a secure optical code is to be generated and generate a digital signature for the reference. The reference is modified to include the digital signature and thereby generate a modified reference. A secure optical code is generated based on the modified reference. The secure optical code encodes both the reference to the resource and the digital signature. The secure optical code is output for implementation in a print or visual output. The secure optical code is a pattern of shapes, having at least one of different positions or visual characteristics, which together represent the modified reference.

  • Publication number: 20160315899
Abstract: Prioritizing online comments on social network web page is disclosed. An activity of a user consuming a content presented on the social network web page is detected. Time spent by the user consuming the content is determined. Responsive to the user entering a comment on the content, a depth of consumption of the content by the user is determined based on the time spent by the user consuming the content. The comment entered by the user is ranked among a plurality of comments entered by one or more of the plurality of users based on the depth of consumption. The comment entered by the user is presented on the social network web page in the order of the ranking.

  • Publication number: 20160299976
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for evaluating an impact of a user's content utilized in a social network. Content in a document (e.g., a presentation) that has been posted on a social network environment is detected as being reused by another user in another document. The author of the reused content is then identified. A counter keeping track of the number of times this content has been adopted in derivative works is then incremented. A score (“impact score”), representing the author's ability to influence other users to adopt the author's content in other users' derivative works, is then generated based on the number of times this content has been adopted in derivative works. Social credit is then provided to the author using the impact score. In this manner, recognition is provided to the author thereby providing motivation for users to post created content in the social network.

  • Patent number: 9467401
Abstract: A current email addressed to an email address of a user account associated with a user can be received by an automated reply service with an automated reply enabled. The automated reply can include an automated reply notification. A current context of the current email can be compared to a previously established monitored reply history of the user to determine a normal reply to the email. A risk assessment can be applied to the default automated reply notification and the normal reply of the current email with weighting for current email aspects including urgency, recipients, sender, subject, and information in an automated reply notification. An action can be performed to the default automated reply notification based on the risk assessment.

  • Patent number: 9443232
Abstract: A text based communication from a sender to a recipient is analyzed to automatically detect a no-specific-time (NST) text segment within the text communication. Responsive to detecting the NTS text segment, establishment of a firm time consistent with the NST text segment based on availability of the recipient per an electronic calendar of the recipient, referred to hereafter as the recipient's calendar, is programmatically facilitated. The NST text segment references a future time for a gathering that is lacks a specific date and time. Facilitating establishment of the firm time includes accessing an electronic calendar of the recipient, which is maintained by a server independent of a communication server responsible for sending and receiving communications for the recipient.

  • Publication number: 20160253593
Abstract: A method for conversation branching may include storing a plurality of messages communicated in an online conversation and generating a fingerprint for each message. The fingerprint for each message may be stored to a lookup table. The method may also include detecting a new message from one of the users and processing the new message to generate an artifact that correlates to the new message. The lookup table may be queried using the artifact to determine a similarity between the new message and each of the stored messages. One or more proposed reply messages to the new message may be generated for branching the online conversation to a new conversation point that corresponds to a selected one of the one or more proposed reply messages. The one or more proposed reply messages are based on one of the stored messages that has a closest similarity to the new message.

  • Publication number: 20160239489
Abstract: Multimedia content is presented to a user. Questions presented by the user are monitored. A core concept of the question can be identified. The multimedia content can be analyzed to determine whether the multimedia content contains a possible answer to the question. If the multimedia content contains a possible answer to the question, but the possible answer is covered in a plurality of segments of the multimedia content, a confidence score can be assigned to each of the plurality of segments that cover the possible answer. The confidence score can indicate a probability that the respective segment answers the question. Based on the confidence score assigned to each of the segments, a segment for which there is a high level of confidence that the segment answers the question can be selected. Based on the selected segment, an answer to the question can be automatically generated and presented to the user.

  • Publication number: 20160239741
Abstract: A system for assessing a user interaction experience of content displayed on a mobile device, implemented by a computing processor, receives an indication of content to be displayed on the mobile device. The indication is received in response to a user attempting to access the content. The system analyzes the content to assess the user interaction experience of the content to be displayed on the mobile device. The analysis is based at least on the mobile device on which the content is to be displayed. The user interaction experience is comprised of the viewing quality of the content to be displayed on the mobile device, and/or a feasibility of user interaction with the content. Based on the user interaction experience, the system presents, on the mobile device on which the content is to be displayed, an indication of the user interaction experience and the indication of the content to be displayed on the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 9418375
Abstract: In an approach to determine a product rating a computer receives a user request for a product rating. The computer retrieves from on-line sources, product information on the product and analyzes the product information to determine a first product rating. The analysis includes at least a sentiment, and a trend of the sentiment. The approach includes a computer identifying products similar to the product and retrieving from on-line sources product information on similar products. A computer extracts comments on the product from the similar product information and determines an adjustment to the first product rating based on an analysis of the comments and references to the product in the similar product information. The adjustment to the first product rating includes using a sentiment, a trend of the sentiment over time, and a frequency of comments and references to the product over time in the retrieved plurality of similar product information.
