    Abstract: Apparatus and methods are directed to calibrating a delay within a wireless access point for determining a position of a mobile station. One method includes receiving an initial packet at an eavesdropping device, receiving a response packet, sent by another entity, at the eavesdropping device, computing a time difference based upon the packet arrival times, and providing the time difference to a position determination entity. Another method includes providing a request to appropriate eavesdropping devices to send information, receiving, from each appropriate eavesdropping device, a time difference which represents a difference in a time of arrival of a packet transmitted by the wireless access point and a time of arrival of a packet transmitted by the mobile station, determining a processing delay estimate based upon the time differences, and determining a position of the mobile station based upon the processing delay estimate and the received time differences.

    Abstract: Methods and devices are described for providing localized secure navigation in conjunction with near field communication access control systems. In one potential embodiment, a mobile device such as a cell phone may communicate with a door access control point using near field communication to receive location access system information. The mobile device may then authorize download and execution of a local secure navigation module from a location access system using the location access system information for use in receiving location assistance data, based on an authentication level associated with the mobile device. Such location assistance data may be used by the local secure navigation module to provide location assistance when the mobile device is in a secure location. The location of the mobile device may then be tracked using at least the location assistance data and the communication with the door access control point.

In one embodiment, techniques are described for setting camera parameters for opportunistically capturing images and may include receiving at least one signal associated with at least one signal emitting device, determining information associated with the at least one signal emitting device using the at least one signal, setting at least one camera parameter for a camera coupled to the mobile device based on the information associated with the at least one signal emitting device, and capturing one or more images using the at least one camera parameter.

The estimated location may be produced using location information for the access point and the identification of the indoor and outdoor locations while prioritizing the indoor location to produce the estimated location on or within a boundary of the indoor location. The location information may be, e.g., a preliminary estimated location or wireless signal measurements and associated position fixes for the access point. For example, a preliminary estimated location may be shifted to be on or within the nearest boundary of an indoor location or may be adjusted based on the location information. The estimated location may be calculated directly using weights to bias the calculation of the estimated location to be on or within the boundary of the indoor location.
