  • Patent number: 9144036
Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate mitigating effect of non-linear distortion from a power amplifier on a spectral mask margin. Power limit indications can be analyzed in scheduling mobile devices. Mobile devices with power limits can be scheduled on inner subbands. The power limits can be based at least in part on power amplifier headroom information. Other mobile devices can employ remaining portions of an allocated spectrum. Further, mobile devices can evaluate and establish a power amplifier backoff based upon the subband scheduling.

  • Patent number: 9106296
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for increasing diversity gain at a receiver by applying beamforming to transmit diversity space-time coded signals. Transmit diversity can be provided at a signal source by space-time coding the signal. A transmit signal is space-time coded over a plurality of space-time antenna groups, with each space-time antenna group associated with a specific space-time code. The signal at each space-time antenna group is beamformed over the plurality of antenna in the space-time antenna group. Each of the plurality of antenna in a space-time antenna group is weighted with a distinct weight, relative to the other antenna in the space-time group. Each weight can have a distinct amplitude, phase, or combination of amplitude and phase. The weights can be static or dynamic. The dynamic weights can vary amplitude, phase, or a combination of amplitude and phase of each weight over time.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses that apply a time-varying delay to symbols to be transmitted from one or more antennas are provided. In a first embodiment, first and second transmission orders for samples in first and second data symbols, respectively, are determined. First and second cyclic prefixes are appended to the beginnings of the first and second transmission orders, respectively. The first and second data symbols are then provided to the same antenna for transmissions beginning at different time slots in accordance with a delay diversity scheme. In a second embodiment, either the first data symbol or the second data symbol can be provided to different antennas for transmissions beginning at different time slots in accordance with a delay diversity scheme.

  • Publication number: 20150131460
Abstract: During access point discovery, an initial list of access points available for connection is generated. The received signal strength indication (RSSI) and round trip time (RTT) delay for the access points in the initial list are measured, e.g., during discovery and by a plurality of active measurements. The initial list is pruned based on an initial and subsequent RSSI and RTT measurements to produce a master list of access points. The pruning of the initial list of access points may be based on the differentials in the RSSI measurements and the RTT measurements as well as a determination of access points that the mobile device is moving away from. As the mobile device moves to different locations, access points from the master list may be selected and connected with based on the expected duration of availability as determined by RSSI and RTT measurements.
