One method may include receiving a position of mobile station(s) and wireless signal model measurements derived from packets exchanged between the mobile station(s) and a plurality of wireless access points, receiving positions and/or identities of the plurality of wireless access points used in determining the position of the mobile station(s), comparing a position of the mobile station(s) with wireless signal model measurements, and identifying a misconfigured wireless access point based upon the comparing. Another method may include receiving positions associated with a plurality of wireless access points, determining a position of a mobile station based upon a wireless signal model, comparing the position of the mobile station and the wireless signal model with the positions associated with the plurality of wireless access points, and determining whether at least one wireless access point is misconfigured.

    Abstract: An estimated location of an access point is generated based on identification of indoor and outdoor locations and the presumption that most access points are in an indoor location. The estimated location may be produced using location information for the access point and the identification of the indoor and outdoor locations while prioritizing the indoor location to produce the estimated location on or within a boundary of the indoor location. The location information may be, e.g., a preliminary estimated location or wireless signal measurements and associated position fixes for the access point. For example, a preliminary estimated location may be shifted to be on or within the nearest boundary of an indoor location or may be adjusted based on the location information. The estimated location may be calculated directly using weights to bias the calculation of the estimated location to be on or within the boundary of the indoor location.

The memory stores executable instructions and data for causing the processor to execute methods for adjusting wireless-derived positions using a motion sensor.

In one potential embodiment, a mobile device such as a cell phone may communicate with a door access control point using near field communication to receive location access system information. The mobile device may then authorize download and execution of a local secure navigation module from a location access system using the location access system information for use in receiving location assistance data, based on an authentication level associated with the mobile device. Such location assistance data may be used by the local secure navigation module to provide location assistance when the mobile device is in a secure location. The location of the mobile device may then be tracked using at least the location assistance data and the communication with the door access control point.
