  • Patent number: 5110075
Abstract: A clamp assembly mounted against the wall of a swimming pool at water level has a folding hook shaped and dimensioned to moor the hose of a pool sweeper or other floating objects, and prevent its drifting toward a used section of the pool. The hook, when not in use, folds back flush into its mounting base plate out of harm's way of any swimmer or diver.

  • Patent number: 5067482
Abstract: A device for uplifting facial skin which includes adhesive pads and a nylon line secured over the wearer's head. Upward pulling forces are applied by the line through an elastomeric tension strap which is light or flesh toned color for purposes of concealment. The lower end of the tension strap is releasably mounted to the upward end of a T-bar connector which is formed of a transparent, compliant material. The upper margin of each pad is wrapped over and secured to a crossbar on the lower end of the connector so that the pulling forces are evenly distributed across the width of the pad. When adhering to the facial skin the pads are adjusted to the desired position by a releasable clip through which the nylon line is secured.

  • Patent number: 5000724
Abstract: A roller chain tensioning device includes a pair of low friction chain engaging blocks that are held selectively together by a flexible strap and fastener device. The blocks include formed surfaces for loosely receiving the side plates of the chain and for roller engagement by the chain rollers. The chain flights are received with the rollers in moving contact with the guide blocks while the chain side plates are loosley and freely received by opposed grooves, opposite to the roller engaging surfaces. The blocks are provided with opposed roller engaging surfaces of different size to facilitate operation with chains having rollers of different size. The strap and fastener enable selective adjustment of the blocks toward or away from one another thereby adjust tension along the engaged chain flights.

  • Patent number: 4866010
Abstract: A blue glass composition is disclosed. This blue glass composition is based on a standard formulation for soda/lime silica glass, except that neither the basic glass composition nor the coloring components therefor contains nickel. The blue glass color is developed by using coloring components consisting essentially of 0.3-0.6% Fe.sub.2 O.sub.3, 0.004-0.008% Co.sub.3 O.sub.4, and 0.0001-001% Se. The particular blue color of the glass is a neutral blue having a dominant wavelength of 482 nm.+-.1 nm, color purity of 13%.+-.1% and transmission (T) equal to at least 54%.+-.1% using Illuminant C (corrected to 0.25 inch glass thickness).

  • Patent number: 4802640
Abstract: A mechanical seeker for use in guided missiles utilizes two axes of rotation which are non-orthogonal to each other and to the longitudinal axis of the missile, and which converge at a point coincident with the center of mass of the antenna. This combination allows wide look angles of plus and minus 45 degrees or greater in a small envelope on the order of 5 inches or less in diameter.

  • Patent number: 4771167
Abstract: Methods of making electrically heated windows (10, 100) and products produced thereby. In an embodiment of the method of our invention for producing a product of laminated construction (10), a pair of glass sheets (12, 20) are laminated together by an interposed laminated interlayer (18). This lamination is carried out in a manner that a first (12) of the pair of glass sheets defines both a first glass surface forming the outer surface of the window and a second glass surfaces in juxtaposition with the laminating interlayer, and a second (20) of the pair of glass sheets defines both a third glass surface in juxtaposition with the laminating interlayer and a fourth glass surface forming the inside surface of the window. An electrically conductive coating (16) is formed in association with one of the glass surfaces in juxtaposition with the laminating interlayer.

  • Patent number: 4769815
Abstract: A packet flow control method where delay data are added into an initial packet as it traverses a packet switching network, and where the receiver of the initial packet, rather than the sender, establishes a window size based on such delay data to be used for the duration of a packet connection through the network. The delay data allow for the calculation of an average rather than an instantaneous network delay such that the flow control mechanism is not dependent on the magnitude of network congestion that happens to be present when the connection is first established. Since the receiver determines the window size, the flow control mechanism is put in place as an integral part of the initial packet exchange used to establish the two-way packet connection rather than requiring an additional packet communication to the receiver after a window size calculation by the sender.

  • Patent number: 4736641
Abstract: An improved straight line motion gate mechanism which translates gate position to an open/closed position without any perceptible vertical motion and without any moving contact with either the ground or the use of a track. The gate may assume a wide range of widths and the mechanism may be self locking in the closed and open positions. A very small vertical motion of the mechanism provides for minimal input energy requirements and is relatively insensitive to gate weight.

  • Patent number: 4725710
Abstract: An improved electrically heated vision unit in which heat can be concentrated in a selected zone or zones thereof includes at least one sheet of a relatively rigid transparent material (12) having a ceramic enamel (14) extending along at least two opposite edges on one surface thereof. A bus bar is associated with each ceramic enamel on each edge of the sheet and has at least one narrow portion (18) overlying and bonded to an associated one of the ceramic enamel, and at least one wide portion (20) in part overlying and bonded to an associated one of said ceramic enamel and in part overlying and bonded to said one surface of the transparent material. The narrow portions and the wide portions of the pair of bus bars are in register with like portions on an opposed one of the bus bars.

  • Patent number: 4666033
Abstract: Auger apparatus includes a drive portion, a connector portion and a flight portion. The drive portion includes an elongated rigid shaft member including a longitudinal axis disposed along the path of material being advanced by the auger apparatus. The connector portion includes a continuous stub section affixed to and extending outwardly from the periphery of the shaft member, the stub section being spirally disposed around the shaft member along the length thereof. The stub section includes a surface extending outwardly from the shaft member and substantially perpendicular thereto. The flight portion includes a plurality of radially cut elongated disc members, each of the disc members having an internal opening substantially equal in diameter to the outside diameter of the shaft member. An internal section of each disc member surrounding the internal opening thereof is in full contact with and affixed to the perpendicular surface of the stub section.

  • Patent number: 4598519
Abstract: A spacer system for concrete forms is described for composite concrete constructions walls which permits the forming materials to remain intact with the concrete poured into the forms. The forming materials then become the exterior surfaces of the mold, saving considerable time and money usually expended in finishing or molding a design into the exterior surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4503723
Abstract: The invention comprises a gate or other load operator which provides non-linear torque/angular velocity characteristics over approximately a ninety degree gate travel range wherein the torque/velocity characteristic is reversed for opening and closing. The mechanism, a dual four-bar linkage with slotted pivots, provides high starting torque and lower running torque regardless of whether the gate or load is opening or closing. The mechanism is not constrained to be located on a particular side of the gate post.

  • Patent number: 4376939
Abstract: A compression spring is compressed between an internal surface of a cavity within a base and the wide end of a plunger the shaft of which passes through the compression spring and out of a conically countersunk opening of the cavity. A tapered end of a ferrule is pivotally mounted to the external end of the plunger. The ferrule is fixed in a position perpendicular to the axis of the plunger so that when the ferrule is allowed to pivot toward alignment with the axis of the plunger, the plunger is drawn into the cavity by the action of the compression spring until the tapered end of the ferrule mates with the conically countersunk external opening of the cavity restricting motion of the ferrule that is lateral to the axis of the ferrule.
