  • Publication number: 20070055869
Abstract: The present invention provides a solution to protect network data stored on a network unit within a network related to a carrier data stored on a record carrier. A copy protection system already provided for protecting a carrier data is used therefore so that in a key locker stored in a key locker area (22) of the record carrier (2) a network dat identifier (URL) identifying the network data to be used for retrieval of said network data om the network (4) and a decryption key (DK) to be used by a read-out device (1) for d cryption of encrypted network data are stored. The network data identifier (URL) is used to et access to the network data, and the decryption key (DK) is thereafter used to decrypt enc pted network data if access to the network data is permitted.

  • Publication number: 20060285820
Abstract: A digital broadcast method and system for supporting DVD recording, and relevant receiving and recording method and device are disclosed. A navigation data used for forming a DVD program is loaded into a private data stream of a TS stream transmitted by a broadcast system to let the system of the present invention be compatible with existing digital broadcast systems. A receiving end receives the navigation data when receiving audio data and video data Therefore, it is possible to record the program in a DVD format so that a user enjoys the same feature-rich scanning function as issued DVDs when replaying programs.

  • Publication number: 20060265753
Abstract: The present invention provides an extensible disc player that is upgradeable to play new content types. The player's capability can be extended by downloading an appropriate decoder from a web server via the Internet. In this way, the player can play back contents that it does not originally support. If the content type is unknown, the player will check whether the disc contains a URL for linking to a web site containing an appropriate decoder. If the disc contains the URL, the player will access the web site to download the appropriate decoder. In a similar manner, the capability of a recorder can also be expanded by downloading appropriate encoders from the Internet.

  • Publication number: 20060265752
Abstract: The present invention provides a disc player that authenticates a disc via the Internet. According to one embodiment of the invention, upon insertion of a disc into a player, the player reads a disc identification (ID) on the disc. The player then sends a registration request with the disc ID to a server over the Internet for obtaining an authentication key for playing the disc, upon proper registration of the disc by the server. To properly register the disc, the server first determines whether the disc ID is included in its database. Upon proper registration of the disc, the server will set a registration status associated with the disc to prevent any subsequent unauthorized registrations for the same disc. Thus, by using the present invention, unauthorized copying of the disc can be effectively eliminated.

  • Publication number: 20060245343
Abstract: A rewritable storage medium comprising predefined content which is adapted for being integrated with additional user-defined content is described, the storage medium comprises: a first portion comprising said predefined content; a second portion for adding said user-defined content; wherein said predefined content in said first portion comprises links to said second portion. Thereby the user can customise the predefined content on the storage medium by adding personal content being an integrated part of the predefined content. Further the user can make dedicated annotations and comments on each category he visits, the connection is built up by the dummy links. According to the invention the user's own content is integrated with the published part of the disc giving an easily personalised guide book. In more general terms the user buys disc content with some prepredefined content, which can be enhanced by user's own content in a seamless way.

  • Publication number: 20060156414
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for increasing the extendibility of disk copy protection and a system for the same. The method includes the following steps: a) Compare the version number in the system for disk copy protection with that of corresponding system for the copy protection in the player and confirm whether it needs to revoke data; b) If the data need to be revoked, read the information about the revocation data in said disk, then confirm whether to revoke the partial relevant playing license or revoke all the relevant playing license; c) If partial relevant playing license is to be revoked, undertake revoking confirmation. Using the method for increasing the extendibility of disk copy protection and the system for the same, it is very easy to upgrade the system for disk copy protection and player protection, thereby to prevent piracy effectively.

  • Publication number: 20060150228
Abstract: The present invention provides a WebDVD player to link legacy DVD discs to related web sites and to play normal WebDVD discs. The player includes a database containing a URL list of popular DVD content providers. After the disc is loaded into the player, the player reads the provider unique identification (PVR ID) and uses the PVR ID to find URL of associated content provider from URL list. URL of content provider is indexed to a table containing a list of some popular title identifications (Title IDs) of discs, location of Title ID on the disc, method of deriving Title ID, and URL of a related web site. The player then attempts to derive the Title ID of the disc according to the method in the table and compares the derived Title ID with the data in the Title ID column of the table to find the corresponding URL for locating the web pages of the content provider.

  • Publication number: 20060123450
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of creating video object units (VOBU) in high-definition DVD (HD-DVD) systems. HD enhanced data in the form of data packets are multiplexed and stored with standard-definition (SD) data in a VOBU. In the VOBU, the spa ce where the video pocket (V-PCK) and the for SD data related video packet (V-P CK-HD) for HD-enhanced data are stored is shortened as possible. This will increase the efficiency of a future enhanced DVD video player that supports the HD-DVD optical disc format to fetch, decode and synchronize the SD and HD enhanced data. Furthermore, the optical disc created in this kind of data storing has good backward compatibility.

  • Patent number: 6258556
Abstract: A human &mgr; opiate receptor cDNA has been identified from a cerebral cortical CDNA library using sequences from the rat &mgr; opiate receptor CDNA. The human &mgr; opiate receptor (h&mgr;OR1) shares 95% amino acid identity with the rat sequence. The expressed &mgr;OR1 recognizes tested opiate drugs and opioid peptides in a sodium- and GTP-sensitive fashion with affinities virtually identical to those displayed by the rat &mgr; opiate receptor. Effects on cyclic AMP are similar to those noted for the rat &mgr; opiate receptor. Overlapping genomic clones spanning 50 kilobasepairs and hybridizing with the h&mgr;OR1 cDNA contains exon sequences encoding the entire open reading frame of the human A opiate receptor are described. Analysis of hybridization to DNA prepared from human rodent hybrid cell lines and chromosomal in situ hybridization studies indicate localization to 6q24-25. An MspI polymorphism, producing a 3.
