Abstract: A calibration apparatus for calibrating a laser Doppler vibrometer includes: a frequency shifter stage that: receives, from the laser Doppler vibrometer, primary laser light; produces frequency shifted light; communicates the frequency shifted light to a reflector; receives frequency shifted light reflected by the reflector; produces secondary light; and communicates the secondary light to the laser Doppler vibrometer, such that the laser Doppler vibrometer receives the secondary light from the frequency shifter stage and produces a synthetic velocity shift from the secondary light; and the reflector that receives and reflects the frequency shifted light back to the frequency shifter stage.

The first prism can include at least one freeform prism surface that comprises at least some degree of cylindrical curvature having freeform polynomial terms formed thereon, which surface can be a substantially cylindrical, a substantially acylindrical, or a substantially flat surface having freeform polynomial terms formed thereon.

Abstract: A grounding clamp uses a spring driving a piston mounted movable jaw as a safety lockout. The movable jaw and a fixed jaw, which may include teeth, form a conductor clamp. The ground clamp mounts on the end of a hot stick to provide for electrically insulated remote operation of the ground clamp by a lineman holding the hot stick and pulling on, or releasing, a lever arm on the hot stick. The system provides increased safety for the lineman as the spring providing the spring loading of the clamp has a high spring force to overcome, thus providing the lockout. The lever arm on the hot stick tool provides mechanical advantage to overcome the spring force and thus release the lockout. The lineman cannot usefully operate the ground clamp manually without the hot stick due to spring force lockout.

Abstract: Presented are techniques of identifying, processing and displaying data point clusters associated with map information in an efficient manner. Methods and systems are disclosed which process map information to identify clusters of requested data points for display, based on iterative clustering and filtering of the data points. Methods and systems are also disclosed which generate polygons representing the clusters. The amount of data to be processed and/or displayed can be reduced, without loss of any associated information content in a displayed map.

Abstract: Compositions, devices, and methods relating to the use of mixed-matrix membranes containing metal-organic frameworks to separate gases are generally described. In some embodiments, branched nanoparticles made at least in part of metal-organic frameworks are described. In some embodiments, the morphology and size of the branched nanoparticles are controlled by the presence of a chemical modulator during synthesis. In some embodiments, the branched nanoparticles are uniformly distributed in a mixed-matrix membrane. In some embodiments, the mixed-matrix membrane is configured to separate one or more gases from a gas mixture. In some embodiments, the branched nanoparticles contribute at least in part to an increase in permeability, selectivity, and/or resistance to plasticization of the mixed-matrix membrane.

The concepts that job applicants need to have learned to be successful applicants for a job are stated or inferred from the job posting and optionally resumes of others who have held that job. A student's own learning activities are logged by an online education platform. From a comparison between the student's completed learning units and a job posting's required learning units, a personalized learning unit gap can be identified for a student. The online education platform can then recommend how the student can fill the gap by undertaking the study of learning units on the education platform.
