  • Patent number: 6629330
Abstract: An arrangement for removing residue from cooking spills from a heated or cold cooking surface. The arrangement includes a scraping device having a blade and a body, which body includes an ergonomically-shaped handgrip portion for a user to hold the scraping device. The user uses the blade to remove or scrape residue from the cooking surface, while minimizing damage to the cooking surface. The blade is held in a blade holder, which blade holder includes a moveable protection cover to protect the user from accidental contact with the blade. The cover can be retracted during use to expose the blade for removing residue. The blade holder and the handgrip portion are made of a duroplastic synthetic-plastic material having a low thermal conductivity.

  • Patent number: 6584744
Abstract: A securing apparatus for a glass plate in a recess, especially a glass-ceramic cooking surface, is provided with easily removable components. The apparatus comprises a sealing frame; a holding frame connected to the sealing frame; a circumferential, permanently elastic sealing strip; and bonding. The sealing frame has an edge and is adapted to be positioned in the recess, lying on its edge. The holding frame is connected to the sealing frame and has an arm which supports the plate. The plate lies loosely without a secure connection to the holding frame with the permanently elastic sealing strip positioned therebetween. The sealing frame is connected non-positively, securely, and durably to the front surfaces or edge of the plate, and the sealing strip permanently prevents adhesive from leaking between the holding frame and the plate.

  • Publication number: 20030019864
Abstract: Modern cook-tops typically comprise a colored glass ceramic plate (1) serving as a cooking surface, which has cooking zones (2) that are heated by radiant heating elements (3), and on whose top side decorations are applied. In order to obtain particularly brilliant decorations while providing a smooth cooking surface of the glass ceramic plate (1), said glass ceramic plate (1) is comprised of a non-colored transparent glass ceramic material, whereby the decorations consisting of temperature-resistant coloring substances are applied as IR-permeable coatings (6) only to the underside of the glass ceramic plate (1). The decorations, when viewed from above, thus display brilliant shapes like a rear surface glass painting, and the cooking surface side of the glass ceramic plate (1) remains smooth.

  • Publication number: 20020058117
Abstract: The cooking panel is made from an opaque glass-ceramic material uniformly colored throughout and having keatite mixed crystals as the predominant crystalline phase, which is ceramicized with a ceramicizable glass or a transparent glass-ceramic with high quartz mixed crystals as the predominant crystalline phase in a definite color location range according to its later service and wear pattern. The cooking panel makes deposited material, such as dirt and the like, less conspicuous.

  • Patent number: 6252205
Abstract: A mounting arrangement for a cooking surface is provided. The cooking surface has an edge at one end thereof which is rounded and which is at least partially surrounded by a plastic frame or frame sections. The cooking surface can be supported on the frame or by the frame sections in an opening in a work-plate. The frame or frame sections include a support section which supports a bottom surface of the cooking surface. The frame or frame sections are made of a heat-resistant plastic reactive foam. The reactive foam is injection molded or foamed into a mold in which the cooking surface is housed. In this manner, a mounting arrangement can be easily manufactured without affecting the stability of the cooking surface.

  • Patent number: 6175102
Abstract: A mounting arrangement for a cooking surface is provided. The mounting arrangement is mounted in a cut-out of a work plate in the top of a kitchen range. The mounting arrangement includes a one-piece frame connected to an assembly unit to form a sub-assembly. The cooking surface is supported on a supporting section of either one of the frame or the assembly unit. The frame can be joined to the assembly unit in a simple manner by providing catch projections and catch receptacles on both the frame and the assembly unit in order to form a catch connection. The frame and the assembly unit form a one-piece sub-assembly, being connected to each other via the catch connection formed by the catch projections and catch receptacles.

  • Patent number: 6111229
Abstract: Arrangement of an electrical heating element as a cooking zone, having as a carrier a ceramic of very high thermal conductivity, in a cutout of a cooking surface comprising glass-ceramic, glass, ceramic, metal or plastic. The ceramic carrier of the heating element has, above the plane of the cooking surface, a region, by means of which region the carrier engages over the cutout onto the top of the cooking surface and by means of which region the carrier rests on the cooking surface by a gasket. The ceramic carrier forms, in the plane of the cooking surface, a further region, by which further region the carrier is positioned in the cutout at a distance from the end faces of the latter, and, below the plane of the cooking surface, a region having shaped-out portions serves as a bearing for an element which element, with the aid of the cooking surface as an abutment, fixes the heating element in the cutout of the cooking surface.

  • Patent number: 6067980
Abstract: Gas cooking appliances having glass or glass-ceramic plates for cooking surfaces also having gas-radiation burners that are positioned below the plate or atmospheric burners that are recessed in the plate. With gas radiation burners, care must be taken to ensure a thermally advantageous discharge of exhaust gases that are produced and with atmospheric burners, care must be taken to ensure an adequate supply of primary air. Accordingly, the glass or glass-ceramic plate forming the cooking surface is partially bent out of the cooking surface plane to form an adhesive-free exhaust air duct or fresh air opening in the bent area. The exhaust air duct and fresh air opening are free of ventilation lattices.

  • Patent number: 6050176
Abstract: Arrangement of an electrical heating element as a cooking zone, having as a carrier a ceramic of very high thermal conductivity, in a cutout of a surface consisting of glass-ceramic, glass, ceramic, metal or plastic. The ceramic carrier of the heating element can rest with overlap on regions of the surface which deviate from the main plane of the plate-like surface so as form elevations running linearly, such as cone frustums, spherical segments and/or cones, and which define the edge of the cutout. This elevated rest of the heating element serving as a bearing, and the underside of the surface serving as an abutment for a cover arranged below the main plane of the surface and closing off the cutout downwards, and the heating element being fixed positively and non-positively in the cutout of the surface by way of fastening elements connected firmly to the heating element and firmly and releasably to the cover.

  • Patent number: 6043462
Abstract: A mounting arrangement for a cooking surface is mounted in a cut-out of a work plate, such as in a kitchen range top, with the aid of a frame unit having a supporting section on which the mounting arrangement is supported. The mounting arrangement also includes functional elements which support electronic built-in elements, such as heating elements, cables or similar. The electronic built-in elements can be easily mounted with few parts by molding an assembly unit and the frame unit into a one-piece assembly having separatable areas. The assembly unit has a tub-shaped base body and the assembly unit includes a floor unit. The functional elements are at least partially molded into the assembly unit.
