  • Patent number: 6043462
Abstract: A mounting arrangement for a cooking surface is mounted in a cut-out of a work plate, such as in a kitchen range top, with the aid of a frame unit having a supporting section on which the mounting arrangement is supported. The mounting arrangement also includes functional elements which support electronic built-in elements, such as heating elements, cables or similar. The electronic built-in elements can be easily mounted with few parts by molding an assembly unit and the frame unit into a one-piece assembly having separatable areas. The assembly unit has a tub-shaped base body and the assembly unit includes a floor unit. The functional elements are at least partially molded into the assembly unit.

  • Patent number: 5977522
Abstract: In order to provide a mounting device for light guides which is pre-mountable on a heating element or on a cooking surface and which can be equipped with the light guides in a simple way, several receptacles (20) for the light guide ends are arranged beside each other on a common receptacle support (1). The receptacle support (1) can itself be formed as an attaching element or can be provided with at least one attaching element. The receptacles are sleeves (24) under tension or crimped sockets in which the light guide ends are inserted and gripped under tension.

  • Patent number: 5958272
Abstract: Cooktops with a glass or glass ceramic cooking surface include the usual multiple cooking zones and functional elements, like operating elements, display, etc. The cooking surface exhibits recesses, in which the operational zones, assigned to the elements, are mounted flush with the cooking surface. The operational zones are formed preferably by a glass or glass ceramic part, which is embedded in the cooking surface by means of a temperature stable, sealing connection. The cooking surface exhibits operational zones in the form of weighing, display and operating element zones.

  • Patent number: 5944324
Abstract: Shaped articles made of brittle material having a low coefficient of thermal expansion, for example designed as glass or glass-ceramic plates, are typically encapsulated with a holding frame made of plastic, which is produced by directly encapsulating the edges of the shaped article with plastic by injection moulding. In order to avoid stress concentrations in the shaped article, which inevitably form as a consequence of the differences in thermal expansion and the material-dependent shrinkage behaviour, according to the invention shrinkage-absorbing elements are embedded between the holding frame and the shaped article, which elements additionally ensure a permanently elastic bearing of the shaped articles when used in practice and provide sufficient sealing during use.

  • Patent number: 5893359
Abstract: The present invention relates to an arrangement for assembling and mounting a built-in cooktop such as a glass-ceramic cooktop wherein the cooktop is seated latchably secured from above in a countertop cutout provided therefor. Tolerance problems between the built-in cooktop and the countertop cutout are avoided in that, in the assembly into the countertop cutout, an ancillary assembly frame is premounted with a precise fit to the built-in cooktop. The built-in cooktop is seated in the ancillary assembly frame and is secured via clamping connections or latch connections.

  • Patent number: 5809680
Abstract: An arrangement displays information and operating states on an apparatus such as a cooking apparatus having a plate made of glass and/or glass ceramic and defining a lower surface and a transparent upper surface area where the information is viewed by an operator. The arrangement includes an attachment member; an adhesive for fixedly mounting the attachment member to the lower surface; a display device for generating a light display of the information and operating states below the plate to permit an operator to view the information and operating states through the plate by looking at the upper surface thereof; and, a connecting device for connecting the display device to the attachment member.

  • Patent number: 5584957
Abstract: A process for forming a permanently elastic adhesive connection, easily detachable in the case of disassembly, especially adhesive connections made of temperature-stable silicone compounds, between a plate made of glass, glass ceramic or a similar material, from a holding frame on which the plate rests. In particular, the process can be used to provide such an adhesive connection between a cooking surface in a recess of a working surface, wherein a sealing frame, supported by its edge, is arranged in the recess, and a holding frame connected with the sealing frame, on which the plate rests. The adhesive strength between the permanently elastic adhesive connection and the parts of the plate in contact therewith is adjusted by the use of separating agents.

  • Patent number: 5352864
Abstract: A process is provided for output control and limitation in a heating surface made from glass ceramic or a comparable material, especially a glass ceramic cooking surface. In a heating surface, in which the individual heating zones are each heated with several heating elements, switchable and controllable independent of one another, it is provided according to the invention that all points of the areas essential for a stress case, especially local overheating, are detected by several temperature sensors, independent of one another, which are placed in the area of the heating zone, to switch and to control the individual heating elements, independent of one another so that the output distribution in the heating zone area is largely matched to the locally varying removal of heat.

  • Patent number: 5227610
Abstract: A process for detecting and indicating an anomalous thermal stress condition in a heating surface made from glass ceramic or a comparable material, especially a glass ceramic cooking surface, is described, and by one or more temperature sensors, independent of one another, placed in the area of the heating zone the temperature distribution in the heating surface characteristic for a specific anomalous thermal stress condition is determined and is indicated by suitable operating condition indicators and/or optical and/or acoustic warning devices. This has the advantage that harmful operating conditions caused by carelessness can be indicated to the user early and can be specifically eliminated by the user.
