  • Publication number: 20120104702
Abstract: A quick-release bit adapter includes a body having first and second ends spaced along a longitudinal axis. The body includes a driving hole extending from the first end towards the second end along the longitudinal axis. The body further includes a sliding groove in communication with the driving hole and intermediate the driving hole and the second end along the longitudinal axis. A through-hole extends from an outer periphery of the first end through the sliding groove. A bit received in the driving hole abuts and is stopped by at least one protrusion extending inward from an inner periphery of the driving hole towards the longitudinal axis. A magnetic device is slideably received in the sliding groove and controllable by a user through the through-hole to slide along the longitudinal axis between two positions to engage with or disengage from the bit.

  • Patent number: 8109180
Abstract: A ratchet wrench includes a head rotatably receiving a drive member. The head includes an end wall having a hole. One of an inner face of the end wall and an end face of the drive member defines a first abutment face. The other of the inner face and the end face includes an annular groove having a bottom wall defining a second abutment face. A dustproof ring is mounted and compressed in the annular groove. The dustproof ring in an uncompressed state has a natural maximum height along a rotating axis of the drive member larger then a spacing between the first and second abutment faces. The dustproof ring includes three sealing units along a radial direction perpendicular to the rotating axis. Each sealing unit has a thickness along the rotating axis smaller than the spacing.

  • Patent number: 8104382
Abstract: A universal joint includes a coupling member having an end for coupling with a tool. A body includes a rounded base pivotably mounted to the other end of the coupling member. The body further includes a drive column spaced from the rounded base along an axis. A reinforcing section is intermediate the rounded base and the drive column. The reinforcing section includes an outer periphery having a recessed portion with a receptacle extending in a radial direction perpendicular to the axis. A control member is moveably received in the receptacle to control coupling of the drive column and an object to be driven. In any case, a spacing from an outer end of the control member to the axis in the radial direction is substantially not larger than a spacing from the outer periphery of the reinforcing section to the axis in the radial direction.

  • Publication number: 20110308360
Abstract: An open end wrench includes first and second jaws. The first jaw includes an arcuate sliding groove having two support walls and an arcuate sliding wall between the support walls. A slide is slideably received in the sliding groove and includes an arcuate sliding face slideable along the sliding wall. Two wings respectively extend from top and bottom faces of the slide. Top and bottom extension faces extend from a wrenching face of the slide and are located on inner faces of the wings. • Patent number: 7975574
Abstract: A ratchet wrench includes a head and a handle interconnected to the head. The head includes a first compartment rotatably receiving a drive member. Two pawls are slideably received in a compartment of the head. A switch is slideably received in a third compartment of the head between first, second, and third operative positions to change the driving direction of the ratchet wrench. An actuator is slideably received in the second compartment and includes two guiding portions selectively engaged with one of the pawls when the switch is in one of the first and second operative positions. The pawls are disengaged from the guiding portions and engaged with the drive member when the switch is in the third operative positions, allowing the handle and the drive member to rotate in either of two directions driving a fastener, and not allowing free rotation of the handle relative to the drive member in either of the two directions without driving the fastener.

  • Patent number: 7954824
Abstract: A coupling device includes a body having an end for coupling with a handle. The body includes a compartment having a receiving space for receiving an object such as a bit. The receiving space includes a slanted face extending longitudinally outward and radially inward. A follower is slidably mounted in the compartment and includes an outer end having a restraining hole. A positioning member extends from a radially outer side through the restraining hole to a radially inner side of the follower and is slidable along the slanted face. The follower is biased outward by an elastic element toward the receiving space when the object is inserted into the receiving space and moves the follower longitudinally inward. A radial clamping force is imparted from the slanted face through the positioning member to securely clamp the object in the receiving space.

  • Publication number: 20110107879
Abstract: A ratchet wrench includes a head having a compartment rotatably receiving a drive member. A pawl groove is formed in an inner periphery of compartment and slideably receives a pawl. A switch is received in a switch grove in the head and pivotable about a pivoting axis. A control member is movable between two positions to control engagement between the pawl and the drive member through sliding movement of a guide of the switch in a control groove in the control member. The guide of the switch contacts the contact groove at a contact point when the control member is in either operative position. A tangent to an outer surface of the guide at the contact point has an angle not larger than 45° relative to a reference line extending perpendicularly to the pivoting axis and intersecting a longitudinal axis of the guide.

  • Patent number: RE43286
Abstract: A ratchet wheel includes an inner periphery and an outer periphery. The outer periphery includes a number of arcuate concave teeth each having two sides and an intersection of the two sides. The ratchet wheel includes a center, a line from the center to the intersection dividing an angle between the two sides into two unequal portions, thereby forming asymmetric arcuate concave teeth to provide improved structural strength and improved torque. In another embodiment, the concave teeth are non-arcuate to reduce the formation time for the teeth, thereby reducing the production cost.
