Abstract: A lighting device includes a body, a lighting module, and a cap. The body includes a cavity, the cavity including an aperture. The lighting module is in the cavity and include a push button switch. The cap covers the aperture and include an outward side and an aperture side having a protrusion. The protrusion and push buttons switch are positioned such that they are proximate and when the cap is pushed inward near the protrusion, the protrusion pushes the push button switch and activates the lighting module. The cap includes a ridge surrounding the protrusion on the outward side, the ridge preventing the protrusion from being pushed into the push button switch, unless the cap is pressed at approximately a location of the protrusion.

The glowstick further includes a polymer rod, the polymer rod interfaced with the lighting module, the polymer rod having a length, a depth, and a width, wherein the length is greater than the depth and the length is greater than the width, the polymer rod proximate to the light source such that the primary direction of emission of the light source is aligned with the length of the polymer rod.
