  • Patent number: 10911160
Abstract: A wireless sensor includes a radio frequency (RF) front end, a sensing element, and a processing module. The RF front end receives a request for sensed data from a sensing computing device and sends a coded digital value to the sensing computing device via the RF signal. The sensing element senses an environmental condition of an item. The processing module determines an effect on an operational parameter of an RF front end of the wireless sensor as a result of the sensing element sensing the environmental condition and while receiving the RF signal. The processing module also adjusts tuning of the RF front end to mitigate the effect on the operational parameter and equates an amount of adjusting of the tuning of the RF front end to a coded digital value.

  • Patent number: 10888776
Abstract: Described herein are, among other things, handheld controllers that include one or more touchpads (i.e., touch-sensitive controls) configured to detachably couple to one or more overlays that effectively transform the respective touchpad into a different control. For instance, one example handheld controller may include a circular trackpad that is configured to detect a position of a finger on a top surface of the trackpad. This position may be used to control a cursor or avatar, for scrolling, or for any other type of command. In general, most or all of the top surface may be usable by a user for providing input to the controller and/or a remote system coupled to the controller. As described herein, however, one or more different overlays may detachably couple to a housing of the controller and/or the trackpad itself to effectively change the use of the trackpad.

  • Patent number: 10878620
Abstract: Augmented and virtual reality display systems increase viewer comfort by reducing viewer exposure to virtual content that causes undesirable accommodation-vergence mismatches (AVM). The display systems limit displaying content that exceeds an accommodation-vergence mismatch threshold, which may define a volume around the viewer. The volume may be subdivided into two or more zones, including an innermost loss-of-fusion zone (LoF) in which no content is displayed, and one or more outer AVM zones in which the displaying of content may be stopped, or clipped, under certain conditions. For example, content may be clipped if the viewer is verging within an AVM zone and if the content is displayed within the AVM zone for more than a threshold duration. A further possible condition for clipping content is that the user is verging on that content.

  • Publication number: 20200357491
Abstract: In healthcare associated infection (HAI) outbreak tracking, different transmission tree inference algorithm processes (40) are performed on genetic variants data (26) for a set of HAI infected persons to generate a plurality of transmission trees (42) representing parent-child infectious transmission links. For each transmission tree, the value (44) of a correlation metric is computed, which measures correlation of the transmission tree with a clinical correlate (46). For each random trial of a plurality of random trials (52), the value (54) of the correlation metric is also computed. A statistical likelihood (60) of each transmission tree given the clinical correlate is estimated from the computed values of the correlation metric for the random trials and for the transmission tree. This may, for example, be a p-value. An optimal transmission tree is selected from amongst the plurality of transmission trees based on the estimated statistical likelihoods.
