  • Publication number: 20080258049
Abstract: Via atomic cascade emission, an entangled pair of photons may be generated. A first one of the entangled pair may be ideal for long-distance communication. The other one may be suited for mapping to a long-lived atomic memory. Also, a deterministic single photon may be produced using a feedback system. If the feedback system indicates that an excitation exists in an atomic ensemble, then the atomic ensemble may be hit with a laser to produce the deterministic single photon. Furthermore, gas in the atomic ensemble may be subdivided into independent elements each of which may function as a memory element itself. In addition, dual species matter qubits may be entangled with light. A volume in an atomic ensemble may comprise a first isotope vapor storing a first state of a qubit. The volume may also comprise a second isotope vapor configured to store a second state of the qubit.

  • Publication number: 20070092913
Abstract: In one aspect, the present invention provides methods for determining whether a chemical agent modulates the biological activity of a GPR105 protein. The methods of this aspect of the invention include the steps of: (a) contacting a living cell, in vitro, with a chemical agent, wherein the living cell expresses a GPR105 protein having a biological activity; (b) determining whether the chemical agent modulates the biological activity of the GPR105 protein in the living cell; and (c) validating, in vivo, the modulating effect of the chemical agent on the biological activity of the GPR105 protein.

  • Publication number: 20060253479
Abstract: A product design method includes accessing a defined product design structure. The product design structure includes a number of customer concerns, a number of physical properties associated with components of the product, and a number of relation models. Each customer concern is associated with at least one physical property via at least one mathematical relationship defined in at least one of the relation models. The method also includes receiving a value associated with one or more of the physical properties and calculating (using one or more of the relation models) the effect of the received value associated with the one or more physical properties on one or more of the customer concerns. Furthermore, the method includes displaying the calculated effect on the one or more customer concerns and receiving one or more adjustments of the value associated with one or more of the physical properties to create a desired effect on one or more of the customer concerns.
