  • Publication number: 20210279962
Abstract: In a method modifying a user's virtual environment, a tracking module identifies a user identity and determines the location of the user. The tracking module retrieves historical user data associated with the user identity and the user location and identifies one or more patterns of user behavior using an analytical technique based on the historical user data. Upon determining one or more patterns from the data, the tracking module predicts user behavior associated with at least one parameter associated with the location and modifies at least one of a user virtual environment and a user avatar characteristics based on the predicted user behavior.

  • Publication number: 20210241434
Abstract: A visual aid provides utility to its users by performing geometric transformations of raw images from a digital camera into processed images for electronic display, via three nested levels of “implementation” namely, the nature of the mapping that will be applied, i.e. specifying a specific mapping or parameterized family of mappings; the algorithm set used to effect the select mapping, independent of the processor upon which it executes; and the method for realizing this algorithm on that processor. Likewise offered for consideration are software feature sets tied to user interface which enable dynamic tuning of the subject visual context and environments for low vision users, inter alia.

  • Publication number: 20210180731
Abstract: A method for connecting tubes includes fastening a position locator to an outer surface of a tube at a predetermined depth from a first end of a tube such that at least one ferrule abuts a flange of the position locator between the first end of the tube and the position locator. A tube connector assembly is formed by introducing a compression nut such that an inner wall of the compression nut surrounds the position locator and the at least one ferrule. A fitting body is introduced via the first end of the tube. The tube connector assembly is fastened to the fitting body using a first threading on the inner wall of the compression nut and a second threading on an outer wall of the fitting body such that the at least one ferrule is between the compression nut and the fitting body.

  • Patent number: 11002990
Abstract: An eye-mountable device is provided that includes an eyelid occlusion sensor. The eyelid occlusion sensor is used to detect winks, squints, downwards glances or looks, blinks, or other eye-based gestures generated by the user. Based on the detected gestures, an optical power of an adjustable lens of the device may be changed or some other operations could be performed by the eye-mountable device. Such operations could include toggling the optical power of the lens between first and second power levels due to the user squinting, looking downward, or performing some other gesture. Additionally or alternatively, such operations could include setting the optical power of the lens to a first optical power unless the user is looking downward, in which case the optical power of the lens could be set to a second optical power.

  • Patent number: 10739513
Abstract: Luminaires that simultaneously illuminate a support surface (for example, a floor) and the surface to which the luminaires are mounted (for example, a ceiling) and methods for manufacturing the same are disclosed. Embodiments include luminaires that divide the light from a single light emitter (which may include one or more light sources such as LEDs) into a portion directed toward the luminaire's mounting surface and a portion directed toward the support surface. Some embodiments utilize a planar light guide with the light emitter mounted adjacent one edge, which in some embodiments is the internal edge of an aperture formed in the planar light guide. In some embodiments, one surface of the light guide includes grooves that internally reflect light toward the support surface while allowing a smaller amount of light to exit the light guide toward the mounting surface, and may be grouped according to the distance separating adjacent grooves.
