  • Patent number: 8490330
Abstract: A window opening control assembly that includes a first member for attachment to one of a sash or a window frame. The first member includes a locking assembly. The window opening control assembly further includes a second member for attachment to the other of the sash or the window frame. The second member includes a flexible element that extends to the first member. The flexible element is secured by the locking assembly such that the flexible element is fed from the second member as the second member is moved away from the first member until the flexible element is anchored within the second element and the second element is correspondingly restrained from moving further away from the first member. The locking assembly is selectively unlocked to permit removal of the flexible element from the locking assembly and permit continued movement of the second member away from the first member.

  • Patent number: 8478273
Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for supplying information regarding a neighbor cell following cell reselection in a manner that reduces the signaling load on the network and conserves battery consumption by a mobile terminal. In this regard, the method, apparatus and computer program product do not blindly provide information regarding a neighbor cell that the current cell has already collected, but, instead, first determines if the neighbor information regarding a prior cell is different than and therefore will add to the information regarding neighbor cells that is already maintained by the current cell. Only after making such a determination may a mobile terminal signal the current cell as to the availability of neighbor information regarding a prior cell.

  • Publication number: 20130114748
Abstract: Sequentially numbered data blocks are transmitted by a first device for receipt by a second device. An indication of non-receipt of one of the plurality of data blocks is received from the second device, which leads to a retransmission pending timer being started if a retransmission pending timer is not already running. The first device records for which of the data blocks an indication of non-receipt has been received whilst the timer is running, and notes for which of those initially non-received data blocks an acknowledgement of receipt is subsequently received. At expiry of the timer, the first device retransmits those of the data blocks that have a sequence number less than the sequence number of the data block that led to the timer being started and for which an indication of non-receipt was received whilst the timer is running and an acknowledgement of receipt was not received.

  • Publication number: 20130078999
Abstract: A radio access network includes user equipments configured to one of several classes, and is capable of being configured to bar access, at least temporarily, from a user equipment according to its class in order to reduce congestion, by transmitting equipment class barring data which indicates at least one class of user equipment which is to be barred. A user equipment receives signalling data including an equipment class access barring data item, and one or more additional data items indicative of loading of the radio access network. The user equipment matches its class to the equipment class barring data item, and in response to the matching, sets a barred status at the user equipment. In response to the barred status setting, the user equipment determines a delay time for an attempt to access the radio access network, based at least in part upon the one or more additional data items.

  • Patent number: 8400949
Abstract: A UE in the idle or semi-idle state determines that a wirelessly received signal is scrambled by a scrambling code which is not within a locally stored list of scrambling codes received from its serving network node, and applies a rule to determine from the scrambling code whether to decode broadcast system information that is transmitted by an access node using the scrambling code. In one embodiment such a rule is that if the scrambling code is not within the list, do not decode the broadcast system information again if the scrambling code is locally stored from a previous instance of decoding the system information. Another rule embodiment is if the scrambling code is not within the list, do not attempt to decode the system information unless a measured signal strength for the wirelessly received signal is higher than a threshold, which may be absolute or dependent on strength of a signal received from the serving network node.
