  • Patent number: 6671406
Abstract: The invention provides a technique for pattern recognition that employs a state machine that incorporates a sequence of table-look-up operations. A sequence of input parameters, which could be derived according to some application-specific algorithm, is used to generate a corresponding sequence of memory addresses that is used for the table-look-up operations. The memory tables are organized in a hierarchical, or tree-like, structure that corresponds to the input sequence. The table data is designed for the recognition of a specific set, or library, of input patterns. A given input sequence traces an input-specific path through the memory tables until one of the patterns in the library is recognized or until it is determined that the input sequence is inconsistent with any of the patterns in the library. For each pattern in the library, the table data is designed to accommodate the variations in the input values that are specific to the application (e.g., variations due to noise and/or tolerances).

  • Publication number: 20030177569
Abstract: A rinse fluid valve for use in a vacuum toilet system is disclosed. The vacuum toilet system includes a waste receptacle with a rinse fluid dispenser associated therewith and a source of rinse fluid. The rinse fluid valve has a housing with an inlet in fluid communication with the rinse fluid source and an outlet in fluid communication with the rinse fluid dispenser. A flow path extends from the inlet to the outlet. A moveable rinse fluid valve member is disposed in the flow path and movable between open and closed positions. A fuse valve is also disposed in the flow path and has a normally open position to allow fluid flow therethrough. The fuse valve is actuatable to a closed position after a desired volume of fluid has passed therethrough, thereby to cease rinse fluid flow through the flow path.

  • Patent number: 6609949
Abstract: An interfaced carrier assembly including an interface circuit having printed contacts to provide electrical interface or feedback control for lapping operations. The printed contacts are formed on a base material on the interface circuit and interface with terminal pads on a slider bar supported by a carrier plate for lapping feedback control. The interface circuit is assembled with the carrier plate with contacts on the interface circuit aligned with terminal pads on the slider bar supported by the carrier plate. Alignment of the terminal pads on the slider bar and contacts on the interface circuit are measured by digital cameras for assembly of the interfaced carrier assembly.

  • Publication number: 20030156317
Abstract: A communications network (2) including a number of optical fibre loops (8) having respective access nodes (10), an optical wavelength group for traffic within the loop, and at least one other optical wavelength group for traffic to the another loop. The network (2) has an optical cross-connect (4) for routing traffic between the loops by selecting the wavelength groups. The optical cross-connect (4) is passive, and the network (2) may be a metropolitan area network with traffic being carried by WDM signals.

  • Patent number: 6070375
Abstract: A frame is formed of side walls that are extruded from vinyl. The side walls have interior channels. The side walls may be formed to effect a female-male connection between the ends of two adjoining side walls. Alternatively a locking member is provided that is sized to frictionally engage a selected channel. The side walls have a concrete retention fin positioned to extend away from the outer wall of the side wall to interconnect with the concrete as the and after the concrete cures. The frame may be formed into door jambs, doors, and the like. The frame may also be a window buck that may be formed into selected geometric shapes. Window bucks of different dimensions may be assembled on site by sawing.

  • Patent number: 6005631
Abstract: A single program descriptor is assigned to each program in electronic programming guide (EPG) data which is transmitted to home communications terminals in a communications network. A relationship is then separately established between these descriptors and criteria which may be used by a subscriber to search the EPG data for programs of interest to that subscriber. Data for defining this relationship is also stored in the home communications terminal. The subscriber may then provide one or more of the above-mentioned criteria to search the EPG data for programs meeting the criteria. The programs which are determined to meet the criteria may be displayed on the television of the subscriber.

Alternatively a locking member is provided that is sized to frictionally engage a selected channel. The edges of the side members are shaped for abutment to each other with a connector in the channels to hold the window buck together. The window buck thereafter may be placed before the cement wall is formed and is sized to receive a window frame. The window buck may be formed into selected geometric shapes. Window bucks of different dimensions may be assembled by selected sides of different dimensions from bins or pallets of presized side members.
