  • Patent number: 8376138
Abstract: A container with a combined locking and indicating fastener is provided. A slide fastener (16), such as a zipper, used to seal the container continues along a strip (14) projecting from the main body (10) of the container. The strip (14) has numerous lock engaging means (30), such as apertures, and indicia (32) associated with each lock engaging means (30). The lock engaging means (30) and the strip (14) are dimensioned so that a lock (34) secured to one of the lock engaging means (30) prevents the slider (17) of the slide fastener (16) from passing the lock (34). In this way, a lock (34) may be used to both securely close the container and also to indicate information about the container by means of the position of the lock (34) relative to the indicia (32).

  • Patent number: 8291073
Abstract: The present application is directed to systems and methods for associating a geographic location with an IP address. Generally, an IP address associated with each of a plurality of browser cookies is determined, where each of the plurality of browser cookies indicate a geographic location such as a home address or business address of a user. A geo tag is associated with each of the plurality of browser cookies and a subset of the plurality of browser cookies including browser cookies associated with a first IP address is identified. The subset of the plurality of browser cookies is clustered into a spatial cluster including browser cookies associated with geo tags located within a defined distance of a geo tag of at least one other browser cookie of the cluster. A geographic location associated with a geographic center of the cluster is then associated with the first IP address.

  • Patent number: 8216621
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to low calorie bulking agents (e.g., cellulose, starch, bran, glucans, hydrocolloids, and the like) coated with a lipid compound to form a base or inner layer and thereafter encapsulating the fiber/lipid complex within a protein compound as an outer layer. In effect, the present invention provides a delivery system for edible fibers wherein the moisture absorption by the edible fibers can be controlled. Using the encapsulated fiber of this invention, the absorption of water by the edible fiber (and thus the swelling of the edible fiber) can be effectively delayed until the encapsulated fiber reaches the stomach and normal digestive processes begin.

  • Patent number: 8030007
Abstract: A method for diagnosing endometriosis in a human subject comprising the steps of detecting a test amount of an antibody that specifically binds to SEQ ID NO: 6 polypeptide or a truncated peptide comprising an epitope of SEQ ID NO: 6 in a sample from the subject; and comparing the test amount with a normal range of the antibody in a control sample from a subject who does not suffer from endometriosis, whereby a test amount above the normal range provides a positive indication in the diagnosis of endometriosis.

  • Publication number: 20110175425
Abstract: The present disclosure describes a dual mode emergency locking retractor (ELR) employing a mechanical strap acceleration sensing and locking mechanism in conjunction with an omni-directional housing acceleration sensing and strap locking system. The ELR utilizes a locking means responsive to the strap payout acceleration rate once a threshold rate of acceleration has been exceeded. The locking means terminates shaft rotation with a locking force which is proportional to the strap payout acceleration rate.
