    Abstract: A liquid crystal display includes a lower panel and an upper panel facing each other. A liquid crystal layer is interposed between the lower panel and the upper panel. An attachment member attaches the lower panel and the upper panel and encloses the liquid crystal layer. A gate driver is integrated on the lower panel. The gate driver generates a gate signal and includes a plurality of stages. A plurality of control signal lines transmit a control signal to the gate driver. A passivation layer is disposed on the gate driver and the plurality of control signal lines. An alignment layer is disposed on the passivation layer and completely covers the gate driver and the plurality of control signal lines. The alignment layer includes a first region and a second region connected to the first region. The second region extends to an edge of the lower panel.

The horizontal portions of the reference voltage line are in electrical connection with the second subpixel electrodes of the adjacent pixels.

The depression patterns of the common electrode are formed through making depression patterns at color filters. In this structure, the liquid crystal display bears wide viewing angle and good picture quality.

A divergence point where the slits meet each other and an incision portion of the slits have the same function as the pair of projections in the generation of a singular point of liquid crystal. A contact hole exposing a part of an output electrode of a switching element is formed at a protective layer of an array substrate. A step recess is formed at a protective layer corresponding to a storage electrode, a divergence point of the slits is arranged to correspond to the storage electrode. The singular point of the liquid crystal is induced to occur at a regular position, and thus afterimages and spots can be prevented.

The interconnecting conductor may include a first portion including a first material having a first resistivity and a second portion including a second material having a second resistivity different from the first resistivity. The first and second portions may have respective first and second lengths selected to provide the uniform resistance.
