Abstract: A sliding/swing-type portable terminal with a liquid crystal display unit is provided. The sliding/swing-type portable terminal can guide the swing movement of the liquid crystal display unit to the center portion of the terminal when the terminal swings. The sliding/swing-type portable terminal includes a body housing, a sliding housing provided with a liquid crystal display unit, and sliding and swinging on the body housing to be opened and closed, and a sliding/swing hinge device for allowing the sliding housing to slide and swing on the body housing. The sliding/swing hinge device includes a guide bar provided on the sliding housing and a guide member provided to the body housing for guiding the sliding and swinging movement of the guide bar.

Abstract: A keypad for a portable terminal is disclosed. The portable terminal includes a first housing and a second housing coupled with the first housing so as to be able to slide in a first direction or in a second direction substantially perpendicular to the first direction. The keypad includes a first keypad on the first housing which is exposed or covered as the second housing slides in the first direction, and a second keypad on the first housing which is exposed or covered as the second housing slides in the second direction.
