  • Patent number: 6973196
Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for printing an authenticatable image having an embedded image into a receiver having a discernible physical characteristic, such that the printed image can be used to authenticate the receiver which includes scanning the receiver to produce information related to the discernible physical characteristic of the receiver, and providing a carrier which includes information related to the scanned receiver discernible physical characteristic. The method also includes combining the carrier with an input image to form the authenticatable image having the embedded image, and printing the authenticatable image having the embedded image onto the receiver.

  • Patent number: 6951211
Abstract: Working cycle for internal combustion engines, with methods and apparatuses for managing combustion charge density, temperature, pressures and turbulence (among other characteristics). At least one embodiment describes a supercharged internal combustion engine in which a supercharging portion of air is compressed, cooled and injected late in the compression process. A sub-normal compression ratio or low “effective” compression ratio initial air charge is received by a cylinder/compression chamber on the engine intake process, which during compression produces only a fraction of heat-of-compression as that produced by a conventional engine. During compression process, dense, cooled supercharging air charge is injected, adding density and turbulence above that of conventional engines with low “effective” compression ratio for this portion of air charge also. Compression continues and near piston top dead center, the air charge being mixed with fuel is ignited for power pulse followed by scavenging.

  • Publication number: 20050051461
Abstract: Disclosed is a re-closable carton for holding and transporting prepared foods that is assembled from a planer, unitary, blank. The blank may be formed from paperboard, plastic resin, foam materials, or other suitable materials. To assemble the carton, the blank can be folded about preformed fold lines. The assembled carton has an enclosed volume defined by a bottom panel, a plurality of extending side panels and a hingedly connected cover that can be moved adjacent to the top edges of the side panels. The cover may include a window for viewing the enclosed volume. To seal the carton against leakage, gussets are provided at the corners and flanges extend between the cover and the side panels. To prevent the carton from unfolding, tabs extending from the gussets may be attached to the flanges.

  • Patent number: 6748106
Abstract: A method for representing an extended color gamut digital image on a hard-copy output medium having a limited color gamut comprising the steps of adjusting the color values of the extended color gamut digital image to fit within the limited color gamut of the output medium to form a limited color gamut digital image, producing a limited color gamut output print from the limited color gamut digital image on the hard-copy output medium, determining a residual image representing a difference between the extended color gamut digital image and the limited color gamut digital image, and encoding the residual image on the output print using a digital encoding means such that the residual image and the limited color gamut output print are adapted to be used to form a reconstructed extended color gamut digital image.

  • Patent number: 6700613
Abstract: A data-reading image capture apparatus, camera, and method of use. The capture apparatus has a digital image detector sensitive to a band of visible radiation and a band of invisible electromagnetic radiation. An optical system, in the capture apparatus, focuses the bands of electromagnetic radiation on the image detector. An image separator is disposed in the capture apparatus, in operative relation to the digital image detector and optical system. The image separator is switchable between an image capture state and a data reading state. The image separator is attenuative for the band of invisible radiation and transmissive for the band of visible radiation in the image capture state. • Patent number: 6648049
Abstract: A cord lock desirably for a window blind assembly adapted to be releasably locked to a cord, such as a vertical cord of the window blind assembly, at alternate locations along the length of the cord. The cord lock desirably includes a first member and a second member that are hingedly connected together in any suitable manner for opening and closing the cord lock. The cord lock defines a channel for receiving the cord and includes structure for engaging the cord within the channel to releasably lock the cord lock to the cord when the cord lock is in a closed position. The channel may be elongated and defined by the second member, and the cord engaging structure may be integral or otherwise associated with the first member. The cord may be received within the channel when the cord lock is in a closed position to lock the cord lock to the cord and desirably also to substantially enclose the channel so as to define a passage with two open ends.

  • Patent number: 6642884
Abstract: A method, device and system for determining a receiver location using weak signal satellite transmissions. The invention involves a sequence of exchanges between an aiding source and a receiver that serve to provide aiding information to the receiver so that the receiver's location may be determined in the presence of weak satellite transmissions. With the aiding information, the novel receiver detects, acquires and tracks weak satellite signals and computes position solutions from calculated pseudo ranges despite the inability to extract time synchronization date from the weak satellite signals.

  • Patent number: 6542622
Abstract: A test target having N invisible test data encodements (660-66N, 740-74N, 74′0-74′N) each comprising test data printed over the surface of test print media media in a defined spatial order printed in invisible ink by a printer under test. The invisible ink print quality of the printer is determined by the ability of an invisible encodement reader to decode certain of the N invisible encodements (660-66N, 740-74N, 74′0-74′N). In a first preferred embodiment, a test print media is prepared by pre-printing or coating a media surface with an invisible ink that is sensitive to the same wavelength of light as the printer ink in a plurality N of areas on the media surface providing step background densities (580-58N) ranging from no applied ink to maximum printer ink density in a test tablet manner In the test mode, N test data files are printed as N invisible encodements (660-66N) in the corresponding N areas (580-58N) thereby creating a test target that is to be read by the reader.
