  • Patent number: 7565765
Abstract: Disclosed is a pneumatic liquid nutrient dispensing assembly for hydroponically cultivated plants. The assembly includes a reservoir and a liquid nutrient dispenser disposed within the reservoir. The liquid nutrient dispenser includes a substantially coaxial pump body with inner and outer tubes forming a distribution end having a distribution hub and an inlet end having a liquid intake structure. Airflow in an annular duct formed between the walls of the coaxial tubes enters the inner tube through an annular passage and carries liquid nutrient within the inner tube to the distribution hub. Distribution members fluidly connected to the distribution hub direct a flow of liquid nutrients and air to one or more plants.

  • Publication number: 20090177137
Abstract: An undercast liner for being applied to an anatomical shape of a patient and overlaid with a cast material. An elongate fabric has two opposing faces and an intermediate spacer area that both separates and interconnects the opposed faces. The liner is constructed at least in part of hydrophobic, water resistant monofilament yarn for providing enhanced water resistance, light weight, breathability and resistance to collapse and degradation due to moisture and bacteria during extended use to the liner. The liner has sufficient stretch in both a length-wise and width-wise direction to facilitate conforming the undercast liner around the anatomical shape without wrinkling during application.

  • Publication number: 20090112138
Abstract: A water-resistant orthopedic undercast sleeve that includes a tubular sheet material formed of extruded filaments having water-resistant properties and a thickness sufficient to provide both cushioning and moisture transport in a single layer between a cast and a limb onto which the sleeve is applied. The water resistant properties are achieved by at least one process, including a water-resistant filler, finish or coating applied to the filaments during extrusion, applying a water resistant finish to the finish during extrusion, applying a water resistant finish to the filaments during a subsequent spinning process, or coating the filaments with a water-resistant finish in a separate process. Moisture egress channels are formed in the sheet material for transporting moisture away from the limb, longitudinally along the length of the sleeve, and out of the space between the sleeve and cast.

  • Publication number: 20090054817
Abstract: A low density fabric substrate for a medical bandaging product. The substrate has a plurality of longitudinally-extending voids formed in the fabric for permitting water penetration through the fabric thickness from one of the major faces to the other major faces. A reactive system is impregnated into or coated onto the substrate and remains stable when maintained in substantially moisture-free conditions and hardens upon exposure to sufficient moisture to form a rigid, self supporting structure. A soft, flexible protective material covers at least one of the major faces of the substrate along its length to provide a cushioning barrier between the substrate and the skin of a patient when the material is in use.

  • Publication number: 20090050065
Abstract: A device for removing canine fecal matter includes a lobed knob connected by concentric tubes to a dual housing, the inner of which holds a set of panels that are opened or closed by the linear movement of the smaller tube in combination with a panel actuating ring affixed to the inner shaft. The panels are extended by holding the larger tube and pushing the knob toward the panel housing. When a release button is actuated, the panels close around the fecal matter and, with the panels closed, a protective collection bag is secured by a clamp on the outer housing. With the collection bag inside the cavity formed by the closed panels. The knob can be rotated in either direction to turn the collection bag which causes the collection bag to pull away from the clamp for the purpose of disposal.

  • Patent number: 7489635
Abstract: A method and system of congestion control in a network are provided. A required quality of service (QoS) parameter, such as a maximum allowable latency, for a packet received at a queue in the network, and a route cost metric, such as accumulated and estimated latency, are determined, and the packet is either discarded if the route cost metric exceeds the required QoS parameter, or a discard bias value is set for the packet. Also, if the required QoS parameter exceeds the route cost metric, the method includes determining whether a congestion condition exists in the network, and if the congestion condition exists, biasing the packet for discard based on its latency if the route cost metric for the packet exceeds a threshold. The network may be an IP network, and a network such as a mobile ad hoc network (MANET).

  • Publication number: 20090036812
Abstract: A medical bandaging product, including a sleeve formed of moisture-impervious material and sealable to prevent entry of moisture, and a medical material positioned in the sleeve and sealed therein against entry of moisture until use. The medical material is a substrate having two marginal areas of relatively lower modulus yarns and/or a more open knitted structure to provide reduced abrasion against the skin. A reactive system on the substrate remains stable when maintained in substantially moisture-free conditions and hardens upon exposure to sufficient moisture to form a rigid, self supporting structure. A soft, flexible protective material covers at least one of the major faces of the substrate along its length to provide a cushioning barrier between the substrate and the skin of a patient when the material is in use.

  • Patent number: 7461067
Abstract: In a system for providing media content to a communication device, a device capabilities determination is made by a rules engine that compares content attributes with constraints on those attributes for a device. Metadata describing the content is derived and entered into a database. As the specifications of different devices are entered into the system, corresponding constraints are associated with the devices that tell the engine the valid range of values for the content attributes. The engine creates an available content library for each class of devices by excluding all instances of content that have attributes outside the range of values prescribed in the constraints. A similar rule set determines whether the content can be distributed through a particular delivery channel, based on the distribution channel capacity to support a media type.
