  • Patent number: 7900441
Abstract: The invention provides a NOx adsorber aftertreatment system for internal combustion engines which utilizes at least one precat operatively coupled to at least one NOx adsorber to aid in the regeneration of the NOx adsorber. Fuel is injected into a precat located upstream of a NOx absorber producing heat, H2O, and reductants such as CO, HC, and volatile hydrocarbons, which are input into the NOx absorber. The combination of heat, water, and reductants help to efficiently regenerate the NOx Adsorber which in turn releases exhausts products such as CO2 and N2. Regeneration of a NOx adsorber can be performed during periods of reduced exhaust gas flow lowering the fuel penalty associated with NOx adsorber regeneration. The pre-cat, NOx adsorber regenerating aftertreatment system of the present invention may be used with any suitable control system.

  • Patent number: 7904605
Abstract: A computer program product, apparatus, and method are provided for determining a state of an input/output (I/O) operation in an I/O processing system. A request from a channel subsystem is received at a control unit for performing the I/O operation. After a predetermined amount of time passes without the I/O operation completing, an interrogation request is received from the channel subsystem at the control unit for determining the state of the I/O operation. A response is sent from the control unit to the channel subsystem indicating the state of the I/O operation in response to the interrogation request. The response also includes information regarding a state of an I/O device executing the I/O operation and information indicating a state of the control unit controlling the I/O device executing the I/O operation.

  • Patent number: 7899944
Abstract: A computer program product, an apparatus, and a method for limiting a number of open exchanges at a channel subsystem of an I/O processing system using data from a control unit. The computer program product includes a tangible storage medium readable by a processing circuit and storing instructions for execution by the processing circuit for performing a method that includes sending a command message to the control unit, and receiving a transport response information unit message in response. The method further includes extracting a maximum control unit exchange parameter from the transport response information unit message, and determining a limit value for a maximum number of open exchanges between the channel subsystem and the control unit as a function of the extracted maximum control unit exchange parameter. The method additionally includes applying the limit value to prevent opening of a new exchange.

  • Publication number: 20100326608
Abstract: The invention relates to a secure lock for a lift cord of a window blind or shade, which includes a head rail, a bottom rail and a shading unit combined between the head rail and the bottom rail. The shading unit has plural connecting members respectively engaging with an annular secure lock, except the connecting member positioned closest to the bottom rail engaging with a cap-shaped secure lock instead. A lift cord is strung in the annular secure locks, with the end fastened with the cap-shaped secure lock. An opening is formed in a ring of the annular secure locks and a groove formed in a curved portion of the cap-shaped secure lock. Thus, the lift cord can be released if an object is accidentally trapped between the lift cord and the shading unit, achieving a secure effect.

  • Patent number: 7828935
Abstract: The specification discloses papers suitable for liquid electrophotographic printing (“LEP”) and a method for making such papers. According to the method, a papermaking furnish containing cellulosic fibers is formed into a fibrous web on a papermaking machine and at least partially dried. The web is then treated with a sizing composition comprising starch, an acrylic acid polymer, an organic material having an HLB value of from about 2 to about 14 such as a polyglycerol ester, and water. The treated web is dried and calendered to a final desired caliper. Since the sizing composition is an aqueous mixture, it may be applied to the web on-line during production of the paper on the papermaking machine, thereby avoiding the expense and inconvenience of conventional off-line methods used to make existing LEP papers. The resulting paper exhibits at least 80% and preferably above 90% toner adhesion as measured by the tape pull tests used for the assessment of papers printed by LEP.
