  • Patent number: 7819915
Abstract: An improved holder, system and method for implanting a tissue-type prosthetic heart mitral valve that constricts the commissure posts of the valve and allows the user to detach the handle of the holder prior to withdrawing the holder itself. The ability to remove the handle allows a surgeon greater access to suturing the prosthetic valve to the mitral annulus. The holder may include two relatively movable plates, one of which attaches to the valve sewing on the inflow end of the valve ring and the other which attaches via sutures to the valve commissures on the outflow end. Separation of the plates places the sutures in tension and constricts the commissures. An adjusting member or adapter is interposed between the handle and holder to enable separation of the two plates and removal of the handle. The adjusting member or adapter may be packaged with the valve and holder combination, or may be sold as a separate unit, possibly with the handle, so that prior art holders can be retrofit.

  • Publication number: 20100230838
Abstract: Methods for producing contact lenses from a polymerizable composition are provided. The methods generally include providing a carrier carrying a plurality of molds each of which contains a polymerizable composition. A chamber is provided which contains a light source providing light to the chamber effective to facilitate polymerization of the polymerizable composition. The molds in the carrier are exposed to the light in the chamber. During this exposing, the light source is monitored, for example, using digital addressable lighting interface (DALI) technology.

  • Publication number: 20100219894
Abstract: A phase shift phase locked loop (PSPLL) are described. The phase shift PLL includes a PLL and a phase adjusting circuit coupled to the inputs of the PLL. The phase adjusting circuit has a first input, a first output, a second input, a third input, and a second output. The first output and the second output are coupled to a first input and a second input of the PLL, respectively. The second input of the phase adjusting circuit receives a feedback signal and the third input of the phase adjusting circuit receives a control signal. The phase adjusting circuit receives a reference signal and sends a first output signal and a second output signal based on the reference signal to the PLL to adjust a phase of an output signal of the PLL in an increment less than a time period of the output signal of the PLL.

  • Patent number: 7785092
Abstract: Systems and methods of manufacturing ophthalmic lenses, for example, soft, extended wear silicone hydrogel contact lenses, are provided. The systems generally include a housing having an illuminated chamber, a carrier, for example a tray, movable in the illuminated chamber from an inlet portion to an outlet portion of the housing, and the tray configured to carry a plurality of contact lens molds. Polymerizing light energy is provided, for example, by multiple fluorescent lamps, to the molds at an intensity effective to at least initiate polymerization of a monomer composition located in each of the molds. The light may be illuminated onto two opposing sides of each mold. In some cases, the intensity of the light provided to one side of the mold may be different to the light intensity provided to the opposing side of the mold. In addition, the system may include features that are effective to provide for an instantaneous start and an instantaneous end to the light induced cure of the monomer in the molds.
