Publication number: 20240192359Abstract: Disclosed are examples related to non-destructive examination of tires using radar tomography. A radar signal can be used to illuminate a portion of a tire. Reflected radar signals can be received and used to generate a 3D image of at least the portion of the tire. The radar signals can illuminate a tread of the tire, an innerliner of the tire, and/or one or both sidewalls of the tire. The 3D image can include structural information of the tire that can be used to identify defects or damage in the tire. The examination can be conducted on new tires during fabrication, on existing tires during operation, and/or on used tires during refurbishment.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 16, 2023Publication date: June 13, 2024Inventors: Robert John Boehlefeld, Carl Trevor Ross Pulford, Christy Lyn Quinn, Gary Lynn Davis

Patent number: 11967024Abstract: A technique is described for extracting or constructing a three-dimensional (3D) model from multiple two-dimensional (2D) images. In an embodiment, a foreground segmentation mask or depth field may be provided as an additional supervision input with each 2D image. In an embodiment, the foreground segmentation mask or depth field is automatically generated for each 2D image. The constructed 3D model comprises a triangular mesh topology, materials, and environment lighting. The constructed 3D model is represented in a format that can be directly edited and/or rendered by conventional application programs, such as digital content creation (DCC) tools. For example, the constructed 3D model may be represented as a triangular surface mesh (with arbitrary topology), a set of 2D textures representing spatially-varying material parameters, and an environment map. Furthermore, the constructed 3D model may be included in 3D scenes and interacts realistically with other objects.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2022Date of Patent: April 23, 2024Assignee: NVIDIA CorporationInventors: Carl Jacob Munkberg, Jon Niklas Theodor Hasselgren, Tianchang Shen, Jun Gao, Wenzheng Chen, Alex John Bauld Evans, Thomas Müller-Höhne, Sanja Fidler

Publication number: 20230144801Abstract: An aircraft pilot incapacitation detection system includes a controller configured to determine, based on an input received from a flight control computer, a current flight parameter. The controller compares the current flight parameter to a corresponding predetermined flight metric associated with at least one of a predetermined flight plan or a benchmark for a predetermined flight stage. The controller determines, responsive to the comparison, that the aircraft is in an abnormal state and causes a first prompt by a user interface in communication with the controller, the first prompt being associated with a first time threshold. The controller determines whether the first time threshold is satisfied and, if so, subsequently initiates an emergency protocol and causes a second prompt associated with a second time threshold. Upon determining that the second time threshold has been satisfied, the controller carries out the emergency protocol.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 5, 2021Publication date: May 11, 2023Applicant: Lockheed Martin CorporationInventors: Carl John Pankok, Nicholas Lepore, Geoffrey K.
