  • Patent number: 5806630
Abstract: In the modular oil mist generator, the mist is produced in a generating chamber which contains oil. The mist exits the generator, enters the equipment to be lubricated, exits the equipment and returns to the generator by use of an ejector. The air is separated from the oil (demisting) by use of a coalescent filter. The air returns to the atmosphere and the oil condensate is introduced into the generating chamber by demisting in a demisting chamber at a higher pressure than the generating chamber causing the passage of oil from one to the other chamber, by demisting in a chamber with lower pressure than the generating chamber and using a pneumatic pump to cause the passage of oil from one to the other chamber, or by directly introducing the condensates without use of a demisting chamber. The oil level in the generating chamber is regulated with a float valve which closes when the level reaches its maximum, preventing oil passage. It opens when the oil level drops, allowing passage of the oil.

  • Patent number: 5502303
Abstract: A slow positron source having a cylindrical geometry which permits increased conversion efficiency from high energy into low energy positrons. A thin walled inner cylinder is filled with a positron emitting liquid radioisotope and is separated from an outer cylinder by an annular cavity. The outer cylinder surrounds the inner cylinder and is coated with a high atomic number material thick enough to stop all the positrons while providing a high fraction of backscattered positrons. A thin layer of moderator is also deposited on the inner surface of the outer cylinder. A positively biased pusher disk is placed at one end of the cylinders, while a negatively biased extraction grid is placed at the other end of the cylinders for extracting the low energy moderated positrons from the cavity so as to form a substantially monoenergetic positron beam. The positron beam is directed to impinge upon an annihilation screen at selected points using standard CRT focusing and deflection arrangements.

  • Patent number: 5413355
Abstract: A substantially improved electronically controlled educational toy or game is achieved by providing animated indicia which is directly responsive to the input signals provided by the user. Preferably, the animated indicia comprises a distinctive character which produces animated movements of approval in response to questions being answered correctly, while producing a negative animated reaction to an incorrect answer. By providing this unique animated response in combination with audible and visual indicia, an educational toy and game is attained which creates added excitement and interest for children.

  • Patent number: 5252206
Abstract: A filtration cartridge, adapted to be utilized within any industry standard housing, the cartridge including a generally cylindrical outer filter having an axial bore and a surrounding side wall structure, the surrounding side wall structure including a carbon block filtration layer structured and disposed to allow the passage of the water therethrough into the axial bore so as to remove chemical contaminants such as chlorine, chloroforms, and the like, the filtration cartridge further including a cylindrical ceramic filter structured and disposed for removable positioning within the axial bore of the outer filter such that water will pass therethrough, after passage into the axial bore of the outer filter through the carbon block, into an axial bore within the ceramic filter for passage out an open distal end of the ceramic filter, thereby further filtering the water from bacteria and particulates before being used.

  • Patent number: 5063003
Abstract: The method involves prehydrolysing alkoxysilanes and atomizing to droplets which are then cured to hardened beads with no or very low porosity and narrow size distribution by slurrying with aqueous ammonia. The cured beads are mixed with binders and the resulting pastes are compacted to green forms; the greens are sintered to fused silica-like objects at temperatures significantly lower than the melting of silica.

  • Patent number: 4259975
Abstract: Liquid level in tanks is gauged an can be controlled as follows. Liquid communication is provided from near the bottom of the tank to a liquid reservoir containing a liquid which is of different density and immiscible with the tank liquid. The reservoir is in liquid communication with a vertically elongated vessel having a relatively small horizontal area compared to the tank, communication being near the top of the reservoir if the reservoir liquid is less dense than the tank liquid and being near the bottom of the reservoir if the reservoir liquid is more dense than the tank liquid. The elongated vessel, which can be transparent or translucent so that the liquid level therein corresponding to the liquid level in the tank can be readily determined, can contain a float containing a proximity sensor triggering element.

  • Patent number: 4092275
Abstract: The instant invention relates to the use of stable, relatively low viscosity dispersions of polyisocyanate-polyaddition products in hydroxyl containing compounds as dispersing agents in the preparation of polyurethane resins. The dispersions are made by a process which broadly comprises mixing an aqueous dispersion of an isocyanate-polyaddition product with a compound having at least two hydroxyl groups and having a boiling point about 100.degree. C, and thereafter at least partially distilling off the water.
