    Abstract: A smart retail product shelf liner called ‘MOOCA’ to detect product loads on its surface. The liner preferably has an origami like structure whose properties (e.g., angles, unit size, material) are adjusted to make the liner configurable for different sizes, load ranges, and product packaging. The smart liner is well suited for autonomous checkout systems. MOOCA is an origami-inspired low-cost configurable surface structure having conductive threads and copper wires integrated into the origami structure to detect and recognize product loads and thus to detect when products are either picked-up, or put-down, upon the smart MOOCA liner of the shelf.

    Abstract: Techniques are described for consistently moving powder from a hopper into a trough for subsequent delivery into a build area of an additive fabrication system. A powder delivery apparatus may comprise a hopper, a trough, and a doser. The doser may be configured to rotate about an axis and may include a recess that, when the doser is rotated about the axis, travels into and out of the hopper and into and out of the trough. As a result, when powder is present in the hopper, the recess may carry powder from the hopper to the trough when the doser rotates. The trough and doser may be configured so that when the trough contains the desired amount of powder for recoating, the doser does not transfer additional material from the hopper into the trough. As a result, the amount of powder in the trough may be self-regulating.

    Abstract: Techniques are described herein for an integrated in-front database cache (“IIDC”) providing an in-memory, consistent, and automatically managed cache for primary database data. An IIDC comprises a database server instance that (a) caches data blocks from a source database managed by a second database server instance, and (b) performs recovery on the cached data using redo records for the database data. The IIDC instance implements relational algebra and is configured to run any complexity of query over the cached database data. Any cache miss results in the IIDC instance fetching the needed block(s) from a second database server instance managing the source database that provides the IIDC instance with the latest version of the requested data block(s) that is available to the second instance. Because redo records are used to continuously update the data blocks in an IIDC cache, the IIDC guarantees consistency of query results.

A powder conveyer may be arranged at least partially within the hopper and configured to be actuated to transfer powder to the trough. The powder conveyer may be formed as a screw conveyor, for example. Such techniques do not require complex closed-loop control systems and may be effective irrespective of the flowability of the powder. In at least some cases, there may be no production of excess powder because the amount of powder that is metered into the trough may be precisely controlled to be the amount needed for recoating.

Upon a request from the processor, the trusted platform module generates an asymmetric key pair including a private key and a public key. The trusted platform module provides the public key and an encrypted private key to the processor. The processor generates a checksum of received content data and sends the checksum to the trusted platform module. The processor also loads the encrypted private key into the trusted platform module. The trusted platform module decrypts the encrypted private key, encrypts the checksum with the private key, and provides the encrypted checksum to the processor. The processor sends the content data together with the encrypted checksum to an external device. The external device may decrypt the encrypted checksum with the public key.
