  • Patent number: 7218256
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for decoding a sequence of code words into a sequence of data words. Each code word includes an encoded data word and an indicator bit. The encoded data word is extracted unchanged into a respective unencoded data word if an indicator bit has a first binary value and is extracted into the unencoded data word and then complemented if the indicator bit has a second, opposite binary value.

  • Publication number: 20070095892
Abstract: Aspects of the present invention feature a method of managing a monetary value stored in an electronic wallet of a mobile device. These management operations include receiving an indication that the mobile device from a mobile device account of a mobile device carrier cannot be located and is either lost or stolen. Subsequently, a determination is made to see if the mobile device has an associated electronic wallet capable of storing a monetary value. Generally, the use of mobile device and access to electronic wallet is blocked in response to determination that mobile device has an associated electronic wallet. In addition, the electronic wallet can be flagged such that the electronic wallet associated with mobile device will be drained of monetary value as well as being blocked.

  • Publication number: 20070096176
Abstract: An imager device that has an isolation structure such that pinned photodiode characteristics are maintained without increasing doping levels. The invention provides an isolation structure to maintain pinned photodiode characteristics without increasing doping levels around the photodiode. By creating a substrate region surrounding the charge-collection region of the photodiode, the photodiode may be electrically isolated from the bulk substrate. This region fixes the depletion region so that it does not migrate toward the surface of the substrate or the STI region. By doing so, the region prevents charge from being depleted from the substrate and the accumulation region, reducing dark current.

  • Publication number: 20070096131
Abstract: A process is described for wavelength conversion of LED light using phosphors. LED dies are tested for correlated color temperature (CCT), and binned according to their color emission. The LEDs in a single bin are mounted on a single submount to form an array of LEDs. Various thin sheets of a flexible encapsulant (e.g., silicone) infused with one or more phosphors are preformed, where each sheet has different color conversion properties. An appropriate sheet is placed over an array of LED mounted on a submount, and the LEDs are energized. The resulting light is measured for CCT. If the CCT is acceptable, the phosphor sheet is permanently laminated onto the LEDs and submount. The lamination encapsulates each LED to protect the LEDs from contaminants and damage. The LEDs in the array of LEDs on the submount are separated. By selecting a different phosphor sheet for each bin of LEDs, the resulting CCT is very uniform across all bins.

  • Publication number: 20070101179
Abstract: Embodiments herein provide a fault-handling scheme based on forward recovery for cooperative workflow environments. The fault handling scheme relies on the correct placement of transaction scopes and their associated fault and compensation handlers for maintaining correct application semantics, a fault propagation scheme for forwarding faults to a workflow component that has the corresponding fault handler, and a distributed mechanism for collecting data of completed workflow components to facilitate recovering from faults. The fault handling scheme makes use of control flow messages to facilitate compensation of nested transaction scopes (residing in different components). The workflow components are also modified with additional code for aiding with fault propagation and fault recovery.

  • Publication number: 20070096203
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an improved recessed thyristor-based memory cell. The disclosed cell comprises in one embodiment a conductive plug recessed into the bulk of the substrate, which is coupled to or comprises the enable gate of the cell. Vertically disposed around this recessed gate is a thyristor, whose anode (source; p-type region) is connected to the bit line and cathode (drain; n-type region) is connected to the word line. Aside from the recessed enable gate, the disclosed cell comprises no other gate, such as an access transistor, and hence is essentially a one-transistor device. As a result, and as facilitated by the vertical disposition of the thyristor, the disclosed cell takes up a small amount of area on an integrated circuit when compared to a traditional DRAM cell. Moreover, the disclosed cell is simple to manufacture in its various embodiments, and is easy to configure into an array of cells.

  • Patent number: 7212421
Abstract: A combination controller incorporates features of a classic controller and a state space controller to function as a hybrid controller unit. The PID portion of the classic controller regulates the steady state error and is separated from the pulse width modulated constant frequency signal generator that also comprises part of the classic controller. The PID portion is coupled with a state space controller such that the output of the PID controller, i.e., the steady state error correction, is input to the state space controller. The state space controller further receives as input variables a reference sinusoidal signal, the load current, the current across a pre-load filter capacitor, and the output voltage. From these inputs, the state space controller employs principles of differential calculus to generate a transient error correction that is fed to a PWM signal generator for generating a sinusoidal output voltage signal with both steady state and transient error correction.

  • Patent number: 7213099
Abstract: Methods, software and systems to determine channel ownership and physical block location within the channel in non-uniformly distributed DRAM configurations and also to detect in-range memory address matches are presented. A first method, which may also be implemented in software and/or hardware, allocates memory non-uniformly between a number of memory channels, determines a selected memory channel from the memory channels for a program address, and maps the program address to a physical address within the selected memory channel. A second method, which may also be implemented in software and/or hardware, designates a range of memory to perform address matching, monitors memory accesses and when a memory access occurs with the specified range, perform a particular function.

  • Publication number: 20070091826
Abstract: A method and system for determining the connections of a communication path are provided. Starting from a one connection point, the identity of the connection point that precedes the one connection point in the direction in which the path was established is requested from the network element on which the one connection point is located. This may be repeated until a root endpoint is reached. Some embodiments are implemented for P2MP SPVC (Soft Permanent Virtual Connection) communications.

  • Publication number: 20070091792
Abstract: A method and system for implementing Multiple Endpoint Paths (MEP) for Point to Multipoint (P2MP) calls over Soft Permanent Virtual Connections (SPVC) are provided. When a condition is detected that requires a particular endpoint to be switched to an alternate endpoint, all calls of the P2MP group that used the particular endpoint are torn down in sequence, in accordance with SPVC procedures. Once all of the calls are torn down, any calls that are enabled for MEP are re-established using the alternate endpoint to replace the particular endpoint.
