  • Patent number: 7184530
Abstract: A method and system for providing prepaid billing for two concurrent communication sessions is accomplished by a first-network-access device, such as a WIN SCP, receiving from a prepaid-user account prepaid services for a first-communication session. During the first-communication session, a second-network-access device, e.g., an AAA server, requests from the prepaid-user account additional prepaid services for a second- communication session that is to occur on a data network. In response to the request, the first-network-access device receives from a prepaid-billing system a status-update request. Responsive to the update request, the first-network-access device sends to the prepaid-billing system the prepaid-service usage for the first communication session. The prepaid billing system updates the prepaid user account by debiting the prepaid services usage from the prepaid-user account.

  • Patent number: 7183813
Abstract: The present invention provides a Differential Signaling line driver including a pre-emphasis circuit, which boosts the output drive current without any delay whenever there is a transition in the input signal to the driver, using the input signal itself to provide the pre-emphasis through a current steering circuit that switches the direction of drive currents to provide a differential output signal. A delayed signal is then used to disable the pre-emphasis after a short period.

  • Publication number: 20070043626
Abstract: Modification of the presentation of page appearance, page navigation flow, and other aspects of the user experience of an online shopper navigating the virtual shopping cart and checkout pages of an online store is achieved without compromising the security of checkout processing. The modification may include customization, and various configuration and customization tools may be employed. The online shopper experiences continuity between unsecured-connection pages presenting items for purchase and secured-connection pages presented for checkout processing. In one embodiment, page navigation flow is modified using continuations implemented using a relatively small stack to save information relating to the flow. In another embodiment, a page designer enables a dynamic version of a page specification program to be generated, such as by way of a page customization interface. Partial evaluation is employed to generate a version of the program that is executed at request time.

  • Publication number: 20070044016
Abstract: A web page is generated by applying a partial evaluation technique. In one embodiment, at design time, a page designer enables a dynamic version of a page specification program to be generated, such as by way of a page customization interface. This dynamic version can be executed during the design process, with page customization choices evaluated in a dynamic manner. The parts of the page specification that can be evaluated to static form at design time are identified, and the program is partially evaluated, with the identified parts transformed to static form. The remaining dynamic parts of the page specification program are executed at request time, resulting in a generation of the page to be provided for display over the network. In general, different parts of a page specification program may be selected for evaluation at different times, and there may be more than two phases of evaluation.

  • Patent number: 7180382
Abstract: A voltage controlled Colpitts type crystal oscillator includes a first crystal and a transistor coupled to the first crystal to provide positive feedback for generating an output oscillatory signal. A variable capacitance is coupled to the first crystal for producing a change in a frequency of the oscillatory signal when a corresponding change in the variable capacitance occurs. A first inductance is coupled in a resonant circuit that includes the variable capacitance and the first crystal having a value selected to provide a pulling range of at least 0.4% with respect to the frequency of the oscillatory signal. In one embodiment of the invention, a second crystal is coupled to the first crystal and included in the resonant circuit. An energy dissipating impedance is coupled in the resonant circuit to the first crystal for decreasing a Q characteristic of the first crystal to increase the pulling range of the oscillator.

  • Publication number: 20070036758
Abstract: The present invention relates to mutant oncolytic vaccinia viruses and their use for selective destruction of cancer cells. The mutant vaccinia viruses of the invention include those having a reduced ability to inhibit the antiviral dsR-NA dependent protein kinase (PKR) and increased sensitivity to interferon. Such mutants include, for example, vaccinia viruses having mutations in the E3L and/or K3L regions. The invention is based on the discovery that vaccinia viruses having mutations in the E3L region are capable of replication in oncogenic cells resulting in cell lysis. The invention further provides methods for treating proliferative disorders, such as neoplasms, in a host comprising administration of mutant vaccinia virus under conditions which result in substantial lysis of the proliferating cancer cells.

  • Patent number: 7177613
Abstract: A receiver, implemented with low noise and low distortion, to process an input signal containing signals of interest and unwanted interference signal. In an embodiment, the receiver contains a mixer which generates an intermediate signal in the form of an electric current, and a filter which filters the unwanted interference signals from the intermediate signal. The intermediate signal is centered around a lower frequency compared to a carrier frequency of the input signal. Due to the current mode interface between the mixer and the filter circuit, low noise and low distortion may be attained.
