  • Publication number: 20230089793
Abstract: Disclosed are some examples of techniques for positioning of a user equipment (UE) using positioning reference signal (PRS). One or more units of messages may be communicated between an initiator UE and a responder UE. A unit of message may include a pre-PRS message, a PRS message and a post-PRS message. The pre-PRS message and the post-PRS message may be sent or received using a license spectrum. The PRS message may be sent or received using an unlicensed spectrum. The communication between the initiator UE and the responder UE may be initiated by the initiator UE identifying the responder UE from a plurality of UEs based on positioning properties of the responder UE. The positioning properties of the responder UE may include one or more of a direction, a velocity, a location confidence and a location of the responder UE.

  • Publication number: 20230080822
Abstract: Independent ranging sessions that are initiated by multiple initiating user equipments (UEs) are detected and combined into a single combined ranging session to reduce overhead. The independent ranging sessions may be determined to be nearby and concurrent when a UE detects a number of ranging cycles within a predetermined time. The UE may send messages to each initiator UE indicating that the ranging sessions should be combined and the initiator UEs will terminated initiating any further ranging sessions. Combined ranging session may be initiated by the UE and may include all of the participating UEs from the independent ranging sessions. The combined ranging session continues until it is determined that one or more UEs in the combined ranging session are not receiving ranging signals from other UEs.

  • Publication number: 20230077671
Abstract: A responder user equipment (UE) in separate ranging sessions may determine whether there is a collision between the ranging signals assigned to broadcast in the separate ranging sessions. A collision in the ranging signals is detected when the ranging signals have the same frequencies and broadcast times, e.g., the broadcast time of one ranging signal is within a predetermined amount of time for the other ranging signal. When a collision in the ranging signals is detected, the responder UE sends a message to the initiator UE indicating the possibility of a collision. Available times for broadcasting the ranging signals may be determined, e.g., by the responder UE or the initiator UE. The initiator UE may initiate a new ranging session based on the available times for broadcasting the ranging signal or may proceed with the ranging session with the possibility that the responder UE will not participate.

  • Patent number: 11606127
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a target user equipment (UE) may receive a channel state information (CSI) reference signal (RS) from a source UE via a sidelink communication; determine that a lower-layer determined source identifier of the source UE is included in a set of upper-layer determined source identifiers; and transmit a CSI report in a media access control (MAC) control element (CE) as a response to the CSI RS, based at least in part on the determination that the lower-layer determined source identifier of the source UE is included in a set of upper-layer determined source identifiers. Numerous other aspects are provided.

  • Patent number: 11582582
Abstract: In an aspect, a UE (e.g., PUE or VUE) performs one or more sidelink positioning measurements on a first sidelink positioning signal between PUE and a VUE. The UE transmits measurement data based on the one or more sidelink positioning measurements to a RSU. The RSU receives the measurement data and determines a positioning estimate for the PUE. The RSU transmits the positioning estimate to the PUE, at least one VUE, or a combination thereof.

  • Publication number: 20230018162
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a network node may receive a first set of ranging measurements based at least in part on a first one or more positioning reference signals communicated over a sidelink between a pedestrian user equipment (P-UE) and a vehicle UE (V-UE). The network node may receive a second set of ranging measurements based at least in part on a second one or more positioning reference signals communicated over an access link between the P-UE and one or more base stations. The network node may transmit, to the P-UE, an estimated position of the P-UE. For example, in some aspects, the estimated position of the P-UE may be based at least in part on the first set of ranging measurements and the second set of ranging measurements. • Patent number: 11558160
Abstract: In an aspect, an initiator transmits a positioning reference signal. The initiator receives a plurality of responder positioning reference signals sent from individual responders of a plurality of responders. The initiator transmits a measurement message comprising a first set of measurements that are determined based on the positioning reference signal and the plurality of responder positioning reference signals. The initiator receives responder measurement messages sent from the individual responders of the plurality of responders. The initiator receives updated map information from an anchor and updates pre-existing map information based on the updated map information.

  • Patent number: 11558714
Abstract: A user equipment (UE) initiates a positioning session based on ranging in a distributed system of UEs. The positioning session includes a plurality of anchor UEs with known positions that provide information including ranging information and their positions to the initiator UE in post-ranging messages. The initiator UE identifies anchor UEs that provide information that does not significantly contribute to the final position estimate for the initiator UE. The initiator UE, for example, may generate position estimates and associated accuracy levels for different subsets of anchor UEs and may use the accuracy levels to identify a subset of anchor UEs that may be used for positioning in place of the full set of anchor UEs without a significant loss of accuracy. Selected UEs are excluded from providing post-ranging messages in subsequent positioning sessions to reduce signaling overhead and improve efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20230007503
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may transmit a request for a first user equipment (UE) to provide sensing capability information associated with UEs other than the first UE (e.g., an indication of one or more sensors associated with the corresponding UE, an orientation of the corresponding UE, a field of view associated with the corresponding UE). Additionally, the first UE may receive, from each of a set of second UEs, indications of the sensing capability information associated with the corresponding second UEs. Based on the sensing capability information indicated for each of the set of second UEs, the first UE select a subset of second UEs and transmit an indication of the sensing capability information associated with the subset of second UEs to the base station.

  • Patent number: 11546926
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A device may receive a directional positioning reference signal over one or more beams from another device. The device may transmit a broadcast positioning reference signal in response to receipt of the directional positioning reference signal. The device may receive, from the other device, a report including timing and directionality associated with transmission of the directional positioning reference signal. The report may also include timing and directionality associated with receipt of the broadcast positioning reference signal at the other device. • Publication number: 20220377497
Abstract: A target user equipment (UE), which may be a vehicle or UE carried by a pedestrian, may receive sequentially broadcast ranging signals from a set of ranging source entities (SEs), which may be road side units or other vehicles. The target UE further receives location information separately broadcast by each SEs. The location information, for example, may include the position for the SE, the time of transmission of the ranging signals transmitted by the SE and/or a sequence identifier for the SE. The target UE may determine ranges to the SEs using time of arrival measurements for the ranging signals and the time of transmissions of the ranging signals or the sequence identifier received in the location information. The position of the target UE may be determined using the determined ranges to the SEs and the positions of the SEs received in the location information.
