  • Patent number: 11474832
Abstract: Techniques for determining a virtual machine configuration based on garbage collection characteristics are disclosed. GC characteristics associated with GC cycles executed on a memory allocated for execution of an application are obtained. A relationship between GC variables is determined based on the GC characteristics collected over a time period of interest. A target GC characteristic is input to the GC variable relationship to determine an expected GC characteristic. The target GC characteristic may be, for example, a target cumulative pause time per a time interval. A virtual machine configuration is determined based on the expected GC characteristic. The virtual machine configuration is applied to a virtual machine executing the application.

  • Patent number: 11443460
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method includes identifying a first user in an input image, accessing social data of the first user in the input image, where social data comprises information from a social graph of an online social network, selecting, based on social data of the first user in the input image, a mask from a set of masks, where the mask specifies one or more mask effects, and for each of the input images, applying the mask to the input image. The set of masks may comprise masks previously selected by friends of the first user within the online social network. The selected mask may be selected from a lookup table that maps the social data to the selected mask.

  • Patent number: 11409821
Abstract: Systems and methods for recommending content to an online service subscriber are presented. For each subscriber, content items that were the subject of the subscriber's prior interactions are projected, via associated embedding vectors, into a content item embedding space. The content items, via their projections into the content item embedding space, are clustered to form a plurality of interest clusters for the subscriber. A representative embedding vector is determined for each interest cluster, and a plurality of these embedding vectors are stored as the representative embedding vectors for the subscriber. The online service, in response to a request for recommended content for a subscriber, selects a first representative embedding vector associated with the subscriber and identifies a new content item from a corpus of content items according to a similarity measure between the first representative embedding vector and an embedding vector associated with the new content item.

  • Patent number: 11396372
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to systems and methods for providing a control link for an aircraft in which the control link comprises an impact-resistant structure with a redundant load path. The control link has an inner structure that is sized to carry the anticipated load of the flight control system and to meet all safety factors. The control link also has an outer structure that is sacrificial and configured to absorb impact damage during operation, thereby protecting the inner structure. The outer structure is also designed to carry the anticipated load of the flight control system on its own, independent of the inner structure, and to meet all safety factors. If the outer structure fails, the inner structure allows for continued safe operation of the flight control system. The space or cavity between the inner and outer structures may be filled with a material, such as a closed-cell foam, to improve the impact resistance of the outer structure.

  • Patent number: 11392482
Abstract: To set data breakpoints on properties and certain other functions, constituent data locations (CDLs) that can contribute to computation of the property value or other function result are identified, and respective constituent data breakpoints are added at one or more CDLs by data breakpoint adder code. Each constituent data breakpoint will suspend execution of an inspectable software in response to occurrence of a CDL data entry. The CDLs are identified by CDL identifier code using static data flow analysis, enhanced interpretation, or disassembly, with recursion as appropriate. Kernel or runtime routines, and other routines designated as known, can be excluded from the CDL search. Data locations marked read-only, or that are effectively read-only because they will not be written, can also be excluded.
