  • Patent number: 10410493
Abstract: An alarm configuration system simplifies alarm management in industrial control systems by improving scalability and capacity of alarms. A control system device allows alarms to be configured by associating the alarm conditions with controller tags or other components of a control system. Properties of these alarm conditions can be referenced by external systems as well as programmatically as extensions of the associated controller tag or component. The alarm conditions are evaluated independently of the control program executed by the control device. A development system allows association of reusable user-defined alarm conditions with selected data types, such that the alarm conditions are automatically applied to controller tags of the selected data type. Selected alarm conditions can also be grouped into alarm sets, allowing operations to be performed collectively on the set of alarms. The system can also generate collective alarm statistics for the alarm conditions included in an alarm set.

  • Patent number: 10176102
Abstract: Systems and methods for a content addressable cache that is optimized for SSD use are disclosed. In some embodiments, the cache utilizes an identifier array where identification information is stored for each entry in the cache. However, the size of the bit field used for the identification information is not sufficient to uniquely identify the data stored at the associated entry in the cache. A smaller bit field increases the likelihood of a “false positive”, where the identification information indicates a cache hit when the actual data does not match the digest. A larger bit field decreases the probability of a “false positive”, at the expense of increased metadata memory space. Thus, the architecture allows for a compromise between metadata memory size and processing cycles.

  • Patent number: 10048657
Abstract: An industrial control configuration can be a dynamic entity where different controllers are added, are subtracted, fail, etc. When dynamic functions occur, bindings of the configuration can benefit from a modification. Therefore, automatic adjustment of bindings can occur to facilitated improved operation. Automatic adjustment can be practiced when the industrial control configuration is a distributed control configuration without reliance upon a central database.

  • Publication number: 20180139227
Abstract: One variation of a method for predicting security risks of assets on a computer network includes: over a first period of time, detecting an asset connected to the computer network and a first set of behaviors exhibited by the asset; associating the asset with a first set of assets based on similarity of the first set of behaviors to behaviors characteristic of the first set of assets; over a second period of time succeeding the first period of time, detecting the asset connected to the computer network and a second set of behaviors exhibited by the asset; detecting deviation of the asset from the first set of assets based on differences between the second set of behaviors and behaviors characteristic of the first set of assets; and generating a security alert for the asset in response to deviation of the asset from the first set of assets.

  • Patent number: 9891902
Abstract: In some examples, a client device receives, from a network-attached storage (NAS) system, installer code. Executing the installer code at the client device causes display of a user interface at the client device. Questions are presented in the user interface at the client device. Responsive to answers to the questions received in the user interface, the installer code executing at the client device installs a subset of software components relating to the NAS system the client device.

  • Publication number: 20170316111
Abstract: A method includes receiving, at a computing device comprising a processor, a request to determine bicliques in a graph, where the graph includes a first set of nodes, a second set of nodes, and a set of edges, each edge in the set of edges connecting a node in the first set of nodes to a node in the second set of nodes. The method also includes determining at least one biclique based on querying a bitmap index representing the graph, where the bitmap index includes a plurality of bit strings corresponding to the first set of nodes, and where a value stored in a particular location in each bit string indicates whether an edge connects a first node corresponding to the bit string to a second node corresponding to the particular location.

  • Patent number: 9798319
Abstract: In an industrial control setting, different components can have information that can be valuable to various entities, such as other components, technicians, and the like. A decision can be made as to what information should be available to entities and a determination can be made if the information should be published in a directory or be discoverable. Security can be taken into account in determining if information should be published and decision making can employ adaptive learning, such that a publish and/or discovery decision criterion can be modified based on the learning.

  • Patent number: 9702347
Abstract: The apparatus includes a wind turbine system for the collection of wind energy and the conversion thereof through staged-compression into highly compressed gas. The highly compressed gas is routed to a central tank, and then expanded into a plurality of concentric ring tanks, each storing gas at successively lower pressures. The cooling resulting from this expansion is utilized to cool hot compressed gas from an intermediate line of gas compressors, increasing the efficiency of the following compressors. This absorption of heat also improves the efficiency of the gas turbines driving electrical generators. The gas compressor in each wind turbine is located near ground level, and driven by a vertical shaft passing through the wind turbine support tower. One embodiment has conventional radially extending blades, and another embodiment has ducted blades to withstand higher winds. Both ground mounted and deep water adaptions for the wind turbines are disclosed.
