  • Publication number: 20140074865
Abstract: Embodiments of a repair correlation system are described, wherein the repair correlation system identifies related vehicle repairs based on key parts (or the most important parts) of an automotive sub-system. The repair correlation system can use a database or other data repository of matching parts to identify related automotive sub-systems (e.g., engine, transmission, etc.) by matching key parts for sub-systems across different brands and models. For example, the repair correlation system can determine that repairs for a first engine with key parts A, B, and C are applicable to a second engine with the same key parts. Thus, an engine in a Honda car and an engine in a Ford car could be identified by the system as having co-applicable repair data based at least partly on the key parts matching, even though the engines are used by different brands and models.

  • Patent number: 8620716
Abstract: The system enables business people to understand the impact of business transactions, changes and events in real-time using advanced rules and analytics to filter, categorize and interpret the significance of streams of real-time information. Most business performance analysis today is done manually and this process is a time consuming and skilled task leading to a time delay in producing the analysis. This time lag between the transaction or event happening and being able to take action on the analysis is measured in weeks or months at many companies. By blending real-time information with historical data and performance goals, this system enables business users to assess business events and collaborate within teams to drive optimal business performance. Using forecasting techniques enables business managers to predict the likelihood of achieving a particular goal without relying on manual analysis by a skilled analyst.

  • Patent number: 8606928
Abstract: A requesting entity can submit a query to an industrial control configuration to determine a location for a module. A distributed directory can be employed to discover an absolute location of the module, which can be provided to the requesting entity. This discovery can occur in real-time such that an answer can be given with a relatively high degree of certainty. In addition to providing the absolute address in the answer, a path on how to reach the module can be provided. The path can be optimized in order to allow quicker response time and to manage system resources.

  • Publication number: 20130272894
Abstract: An Archimedean Modular/Multi-Axis Rotor (AMR) is a wind/fluid driven electrical generating device as described which utilizes a single foil rotor and appears in an elongated Archimedean curve tapering at its ends. A plurality of AMR's can be assembled in a multiplicity of tetrahedral or other 3-dimensional type structures that generate electric power. These structures would be manufactured to facilitate easy shipping, handling, assembly, erection and maintenance. The AMR is quiet (no prop buffeting), bird friendly, can accommodate any varying orientations to the wind/fluid direction and continues to operate even when in the direct shadow of adjacent AMR rotors.

  • Patent number: 8554996
Abstract: A storage system includes at least one storage device on which are provided data storage volumes and an extended storage volume. The data storage volumes include a first data storage volume that is implemented with a data protection mechanism, and a second data storage volume that is implemented without the data protection mechanism. Also, an extended storage volume is provided that is initially un-allocated to any of the data storage volumes. A controller dynamically allocates at least one portion of the extended storage volume to the particular data storage volume to dynamically expand storage capacity of the particular data storage volume.

  • Patent number: 8449374
Abstract: An improved multiplier for a lottery game is provided. In connection with a base lottery game, each player receives or selects a multiplier indicia (or other bonus indicia) from a pool of multiplier indicia. In addition to drawings for the base game, a drawing of multiplier indicia and a determination of associated multiplier values is also conducted. For those players winning the base game who also received a multiplier indicia matching the drawn multiplier indicia, the base game prize is multiplied by the associated multiplier value.

  • Publication number: 20120322621
Abstract: Systems and methods for accurately measuring power output of a cyclist using a bike trainer that may be operated by a user for stationary riding when coupled to a conventional bicycle. The systems utilize a power output equation that models power due to resistance of a fan of the bike trainer as well as power due to kinetic energy of the fan. The systems account for operating conditions that affect the power measurements so that more accurate measurements can be provided, thereby improving the training experience of the user. Operating conditions include mechanical drag, temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure and/or altitude. The power output equation is dependent on the angular velocity of the fan of the bike trainer and the measured or received operating conditions.
