  • Publication number: 20170114778
Abstract: The apparatus includes a wind turbine system for the collection of wind energy and the conversion thereof through staged-compression into highly compressed gas. The highly compressed gas is routed to a central tank, and then expanded into a plurality of concentric ring tanks, each storing gas at successively lower pressures. The cooling resulting from this expansion is utilized to cool hot compressed gas from an intermediate line of gas compressors, increasing the efficiency of the following compressors. This absorption of heat also improves the efficiency of the gas turbines driving electrical generators. The gas compressor in each wind turbine is located near ground level, and driven by a vertical shaft passing through the wind turbine support tower. One embodiment has conventional radially extending blades, and another embodiment has ducted blades to withstand higher winds. Both ground mounted and deep water adaptions for the wind turbines are disclosed.

Abstract: A polyhedral substantially cube-shaped training aid approximately the size and weight of a basketball and having a side transition, whereby when the training aid is launched in the manner of a basketball shot the rotation of the training aid provides visual feedback representative of a nature of the rotation of the device in flight. The training aid may include a level indicator device, sound indicator, vibration indicator, and side transitions are generally beveled. The training aid may include visual outer-markings on one or more external surfaces of the aid to visually indicate the nature of the rotation of the device when launched. Alternatively, the training aid is removably placed over the outside surface of a basketball so as to at least partially square off a first perspective of the basketball, the training aid being configured and constructed of material that permits the training aid to become removably affixed to the outer surface of the basketball.

  • Patent number: 9336074
Abstract: A method includes receiving a first clock signal from a first clock source at a clock monitoring unit. The method also includes counting a first number of pulses in the first clock signal during a specified time period. The method further includes identifying a fault with the first clock source when the first number does not have an acceptable value. In addition, the method includes testing the clock monitoring unit by determining whether the clock monitoring unit identifies an artificial clock fault. The time period could be defined by receiving a second clock signal, counting a second number of pulses in the second clock signal, and signaling when the second number meets or exceeds a threshold value. In response to the identified fault with the first clock source, a second clock source could be used to provide a second clock signal.

  • Patent number: 9152144
Abstract: In a distributed directory configuration, different nodes can retain information pertinent an industrial control configuration. As information changes in one node, replicas of the information in other nodes can be updated. However, updating can take time and a query can be run upon the directory while nodes have conflicting information. Conflicting information can be identified and resolved such that a query obtains a correct answer.
