  • Publication number: 20020069057
Abstract: Methods for peer to peer sharing of voice enabled document templates. One or more users are identified and a connection is established between the users. Users are assisted in identifying one or more voice enabled document templates and in displaying one or more of the templates between each other. Further, templates are identified on one or more computing devices and references to the templates recorded, with a listing of the references communicated to each of the computing devices. Moreover, a template associated with a first device is identified and displayed to a second device, where the template is used to interface with an audio device to generate a document.

  • Patent number: 6384578
Abstract: The minimum transmit battery voltage (Vtx min) of a radio operating in a TDMA mode of operation or the stand-by battery voltage (Vstd-by) of the radio operating in a GSM mode of operation can be determined as a function of the combination of an in-slot transmit battery voltage (Vin-slot), an out-of-slot transmit battery voltage (Vout-slot), a stand-by compensation factor (&Dgr;sb), and a compensation factor (K). The stand-by compensation factor (&Dgr;sb) is related to a difference between the out-of-slot transmit battery voltage (Vout-slot) and a stand-by battery voltage (Vstd-by). The compensation factor (K) has a first value for the TDMA mode of operation and a second value for the GSM mode of operation. Each value of compensation factor (K) is related to the manner in which the radio utilizes battery power during transmission in the TDMA or GSM modes of operation.

  • Patent number: 6341738
Abstract: A power washer wand has a loop or helix which balances the forces of the water stream. By balancing these forces, the back pressure is greatly reduced. This results in less fatigue for the user and also enables the wand to be extended in order to reach high or distant surfaces without the use of a ladder or scaffold. The wand may also include a universal joint. This joint allows the angle between the wand nozzle or tip and the surface being washed to remain substantially constant. The wand may be longer than conventional wands and may be connected to an extension.

  • Patent number: 6319088
Abstract: The present invention is a toy for amusement. The toy is comprised of a cardboard-like panel with one or more spherical toy balls, commonly known as “floating eyeballs,” Jet Balls™ or Glide Balls™, affixed to the panel which bear human, insect, animal, or creature-like facial features on both its front and back surfaces. The panel in the preferred embodiment has a doodle pad with disposable pages attached to its front surface along with the floating eyeballs to allow a user to create his own coordinated doodles with the floating eyeballs. The panel and floating eyeballs together make an entertaining three-dimensional facial representation that can be controlled by the user to create a visual effect in which the floating eyeballs move about in a manner similar to human-like eye movement. Another embodiment shows a daytime calendar having the floating eyeballs protruding through the top page of the calendar.

  • Patent number: 6149201
Abstract: The present invention is a toy for amusement. The toy is comprised of a cardboard-like panel with one or more spherical toy balls, commonly known as "floating eyeballs," Jet Balls.TM. or Glide Balls.TM., affixed to the panel which bears graphic depictions including human, insect, animal, or creature-like facial features on both its front and back surfaces. The panel can be hingedly connected to a book or other card-like device such that when the panel is turned over or opened, a new panel bearing different features appears. The panel and spherical toy ball(s) together make an entertaining three-dimensional representation that can be controlled by the user to create a visual effect in which the spherical toy ball(s) move about in a manner similar to human-like eye movement. Another embodiment shows a daytime calendar having the spherical toy balls protruding through the top page of the calendar.

  • Patent number: 6070264
Abstract: A welding helmet includes a shutter assembly with an electronically controlled liquid crystal shutter in a compact housing for physical mounting near the face area of a protective shell. The electronic controls provide for the customary auto-darkening function as well as two user selectable fixed shade settings which permit the user to fix the shutter shade in one of a plurality of preselected and factory set shade settings. When fixed at a shade setting, the user is given a visual indication that the helmet is not in an auto-darkening mode. The housing allows for two PC boards to be mounted above and below the optical shutter, with a flexible cable interconnecting the two PC boards so as to not interfere with or obscure the user's vision. The controls are all single function, readily accessible and continuous so that multiple operation of any one control does not switch the associated function off, allowing a user to continuously operate any control repeatedly to ensure its selection.

  • Patent number: 5864973
Abstract: An improvement is added to the existing concept of using a mirrored surface to reflect a half symmetrical image which is printed on an adjoining card. The improvement is adding a perspective drawing of a related vertical object on the mirrored surface. The vertical object is positioned to interact in a coherent manner with the reflection of the half symmetrical image. The interaction between the images provides an enhanced 3-D phenomena. Additionally objects such as a ball seem to float out of the 3-D image. One embodiment further adds a movable tab which allows modifying the overall image. The invention can be used for greeting cards, books, baseball hat peaks, and assorted novelty items.

  • Patent number: 4517826
Abstract: An apparatus and method for measuring the air leakage rate of a structure, such as a building, for the purpose of assessing the need to add caulking, weatherstripping or the like to the building to minimize energy loss. The equipment includes a panel which may conveniently fit into a doorway or window frame of the building and seal the same against air leakage except for an air pathway passing through the panel. The pathway has a fan or the like for causing air to flow through the pathway, preferably from the inside to the outside to create a partial vacuum inside the building. Pressure sensors are provided to measure the partial vacuum and the air pressure inside the air pathway. From these measurements and a knowledge of the total internal volume of the building structure, the air leakage rate of the structure can be determined and expressed, for example, as a number of total volume changes per hour. The apparatus is portable and can be used for almost any building without structural modification.
