  • Patent number: 9996801
Abstract: Physical superconducting qubits are controlled according to an “encoded” qubit scheme, where a pair of physical superconducting qubits constitute an encoded qubit that can be controlled without the use of a microwave signal. For example, a quantum computing system has at least one encoded qubit and a controller. Each encoded qubit has a pair of physical superconducting qubits capable of being selectively coupled together. Each physical qubit has a respective tunable frequency. The controller controls a state of each of the pair of physical qubits to perform a quantum computation without using microwave control signals. Rather, the controller uses DC-based voltage or flux pulses.

  • Publication number: 20170239415
Abstract: A medical device for infusing medical substances has activation buttons accessible on the exterior of the device housing. Activation buttons and corresponding electrical switches within the housing are configured to prevent inadvertent activation of the buttons and therefore inadvertent operation of the switches to initiate a process such as medical substance delivery to the user. The device employs overlap of respective time traces initiated by activation of the activation buttons to determine whether activation is intended and valid. These time traces do not have to be initiated simultaneously or in any particular sequence. The activation buttons can be elastomeric overmolded buttons set within cutouts in the housing, and, when depressed, make physical contact with respective switches.

  • Publication number: 20170143726
Abstract: Described are uses of A2a adenosine receptor antagonists and agonists to provide long term modulation of immune responses. A2a receptor antagonists in particular are provided to enhance immune responses by reducing T-cell mediated tolerance to antigenic stimuli and agonists are provided to enhance effectiveness of immunosuppressive agents. The application provides methods of treatment and prevention based on the long term effects of the compounds on T cell responses.

  • Patent number: 9397293
Abstract: An artificial composite object combines a quantum of sound with a matter excitation. A phonon in a confinement structure containing the matter excites it from an initial state to an excited state corresponding to a frequency of the phonon. Relaxation of the matter back to the initial state emits a phonon of the same frequency into the confinement structure. The phonon confinement structure, for example, a cavity, traps the emitted phonon thereby allowing further excitation of the matter. The coupling between the phonon and the matter results in a quantum quasi-particle referred to as a phoniton. The phoniton can find application in a wide variety of quantum systems such as signal processing and communications devices, imaging and sensing, and information processing.

  • Patent number: 9132281
Abstract: An approach combining immune-based therapies with focused radiation, including stereotactic radiation, to treat cancers is disclosed. The use of focused radiation primes the immune system in a similar manner to vaccines to augment immune-based therapies and can counteract the suppressive effects of a tumor. The combination of focused radiation and immune-based therapies, including administration of at least one immunotherapeutic agent, improves survival compared to each therapy alone and can, in some cases, lead to a durable cure. Accordingly, focused radiation can be an adjuvant for immune-based therapies for treating cancers.

  • Publication number: 20150110459
Abstract: This disclosure is directed at system which integrates many of the functions of existing security and security guard systems into a single integrated system, while adding new functions and increased functionality through the centralization of the systems. The present system uses a server based system to provide the backbone of a system which takes input and performs its functions through network connection through a web portal, to an application on mobile devices, to CCTV and/or DVR devices, and to any other network enabled device which is connected to the system. One major function of the system disclosed allows CCTV and/or DVR systems to be networked into the server system, allowing the server to store, document, and log the video and photos, along with any video and photos from any mobile devices, such as camera phones, which are networked into the system.

  • Patent number: RE45648
Abstract: A dredge cutterhead has a plurality of helical arms inter-connecting a hub and a ring. Each of the arms has a front leading edge for attachment of cutting teeth. In one aspect, each of the arms has a trough portion, and the arm is shaped such that dredged material is directed toward the ring along the center of the trough portion. In another aspect, the ring of the cutterhead defines an annular channel for receiving loosened material.
